This was posted on the Charlton LinkedIn. Does it worry anyone else? Also saw the socks will now be used as ad space which made I larf. Let's all kick off!
I have no beef with the idea while we are still in the lower leagues, as mentioned above club is losing £10mill a year, it can be changed when we reach the Premier again.
The (insert brand name) Valley or Jimmy Seed Stand sponsored by (insert brand name) = OK, rather we didn't have to but we need the money
"The Insert Brand Name Stadium" = No way.
They struggled to find many additional LED or static board advertisers last season anyway so in the current economic climate (no party politics, please) and league position, unless it is a dodgy betting or crypto firm, I doubt they'd be able to sell those rights at a fee to make it worthwhile.
Regardless what happens, it'll always be known as the Valley to me. Ironically I'll always see that Arsenal's stadium will be known as the Emirates, if ever they change their Stadium Sponsor.
Bolton's again the Reebok Stadium rather than any other Sponsored company.
I'm not a fan of selling stadium naming rights, however I am pragmatic enough to understand that a club losing millions every year needs to raise income. Therefore, providing it's a sensible 'name' from a reputable company (not betting etc) then I'd rather get income into the club than see the club struggle.

I think we should be exploring every avenue to raise more revenue.
It's better than hiking admission prices.
Also stands. 2 of ours are named after very successful managers. Wouldn't sit right having the other 2 named after a DIY store and a Betting Company.
Volvo Valley
Volkswagen Valley
Viking Valley
Companies with plenty of dosh who will pay high and pass the alliteration test.
Vex Valley

Will stiffen our resolve
Has a certain ring to it.
