Old enough to remember two evenings paper in London, the evening standard & the evening news.
I preferred the Evening News….pretty sure it had bigger sales than The Standard.
Me too.
It always seemed far more down to earth to me, it reported the news. The Standard was always banged out with features about life styles, the arts, the sciences, gardens and gazebos.
I do however have a stack of Standards in the boot of the car, which I turn to for the crosswords when I take my granddaughter to her sports training.

I bought the Evening News until it went out of business, then went onto the Standard, and yes it was replaced by Daily News for a short while. Yes I did always check the 'stop press' column as well.
I used to like the short lived London Daily News, even though it was a Robert Maxwell paper, it was cheaper (20p) and did actually feature Charlton. I seem to remember a big feature on our Full Members Cup at Wembley.
Doesn't it show you have far we have come ... remember waiting for the 6pm Saturday Paper to get the Charlton away score , only to find "L" for late kick off. Praise the interweb
