Used to buy the Evening News, when it went out of business I then bought the Daily News (think that was the name) but that didn't last long.1

It always seemed far more down to earth to me, it reported the news. The Standard was always banged out with features about life styles, the arts, the sciences, gardens and gazebos.
I do however have a stack of Standards in the boot of the car, which I turn to for the crosswords when I take my granddaughter to her sports training.0 -

I used to like the short lived London Daily News, even though it was a Robert Maxwell paper, it was cheaper (20p) and did actually feature Charlton. I seem to remember a big feature on our Full Members Cup at Wembley.1

Henry Irving said:Standard said Charlton Athletic should be allowed to die in 1984 and when Powell was picked to play for England had a headline of "Chris Who?".
Refused to read it ever since, even when it was free.
Charlton coverage was generally appalling anyway.I may not have every cutting from the Standard but I don’t remember that.0 -
Doesn't it show you have far we have come ... remember waiting for the 6pm Saturday Paper to get the Charlton away score , only to find "L" for late kick off. Praise the interweb2
