  • I wonder if the name "Williams" carries a touch of cosmopolitan glamour in Spain?

    Happy with 0-0 at HT.

Very tight game, Spain have had the possession, but done nothing with it

Based on the Foden chance, we could well have been 1-0 up
  • Has anyone mentioned they don’t think Kane is playing that well?

feels like job done getting to half time level there - the longer this goes on the better chance we have imo
  • HT: Spain (0.25) 0-0 (0.22) England

Positives - Defense has been excellent. Spain has been effectively nullified going forward.

Negatives - Mainoo, Foden and Bellingham little bit sloppy. Kane may as well not be on the pitch.

Subs can change the game, definitely winnable from here.
  • Golden boot or no, playing with Kane is basically playing with 10 men at this point.

    He is offering zero.
Stones ran further & with more purpose than Kane.

I'd play Toney up front. More pace.
  • Kane offering nothing, need to get him off and replace with some energy

Kane and Mainoo offering absolutely nothing.
At least Mainoo is getting about, pressuring and winning tackles. What's Kane done?
He hasn't won or even made many tackles, but has certainly done more than Kane, which is saying nothing.

Don't think so... Think we need to be told a dozen more times, so people can confirm their tactical genius

  • I know it has been mentioned before but has Kane always been this slow ? He just wants more time than the other 21 players on the pitch. Captain yes but needs to come off at half time
  • Extra time / penalties England win
    it’s coming home
  • Bit of a cagey game, as finals tend to be, but I reckon it’s going according to plan for England. Spain having a lot of the ball, but not really looking the threatening. Yamal very quiet so far. England playing more on the break but have looked threats couple of times. If England can sharpen up their passing a bit in the final third then there is a goal here for them. I’m fairly happy with that first half.

    Relatively happy.

Walker and Shaw done a top job on Williams and Yamal & we’re not without our own threats - the more we can get Saka 1v1 on Cucurella the better.

We’re trying to mark Rodri out of the game but it’s led to another centre back getting a free run into our half and that created some of Spain’s biggest chances towards the end of the half.

Perhaps it’s seen as the lesser of two evils because I don’t think we want to stop man marking Rodri.
  • Has anyone mentioned they don’t think Kane is playing that well?
Not sure, been too busy trying to find out how old that Lamine Yamal fella is, as no seems to have mentioned it
  • England fans should be pretty happy. Spain have had lots of the ball to show what they can do and haven’t done anything. Longer it goes on this way the greater the chance Englands super subs can change the game.
  • Kane barely broken a sweat. Is he injured?
  • Thoroughly enjoy this game. Not many chances but two sides playing as well as the other team letting them.
  • I thought Toney wasn’t as quick as Watkins - and its pace we need up front to get in behind.

Important thing is we are still in it…..

  • Would prefer Watkins. Bit of pace and running the channels to create space for Saka to cut inside, or for Foden and Bellingham in the middle.

Yep Watkins looked really quick. And sharp. Think Toney is a bit more physical, probably like Kane should be. He's much quicker than Kane too though.

Couple of good 50 yard switches to get Saka one on one on the right. Had a shot blocked by Rodri from a good position on the edge of the box. Been far from England’s best player, but only way you can say he has done nothing is if you are determined to only see the negatives.

One of England’s best ever players and after handful of below par games (in which he’s still managed a 1 in 2 goal scoring rate, btw) some people come across like they want him to do badly. It always genuinely baffles me. Are you an England supporter or not?

  • US coverage just said that Rodri might be subbed off?

Nothing mentioned on the BBC coverage - Although Spain are making a change
  • Canadian coverage just said the same thing re Rodri.

Of course but Kane doesn't look to be trying. Is getting caught behind play and isn't pressuring the centre backs. He might get and score a penalty, but we need a change if we want goals from elsewhere.

Kane hasn’t been the same player since he left arsenal aged 9.
  • Rodri coming off would be huge
  • Rodri off could be massive !
