  • Sounds like the media are being very sensible not to show it everywhere and invite copycats around the country like they did with the London riots.

It is still being reported as shown above.
  • Headlines on the Beeb and Sky but if it is about children being removed into care i suppose there would be confidentiality issues involved.

Interesting that you've said they have restricted the viewing to discourage crowds emulating it.

I've seen a comment of that nature on social media as well. Pretty concerning times if media outlets are afraid to share what is pretty big news, with the fear of a reaction.
  • Police vehicles being smashed, police having to disengage for safety. A bus set alight, fires being lit, and someone's train of thought is this..

    Are they? They've reported it.

Giving it wall to wall coverage just invites other areas to join in and is exactly what happened with the London Riots spilling out around the country, even though it was a local issue that created the situation.

Well I am going by your wording. You said they're being sensible. Which is code for 'they're playing it down'. Unless you mean sensible in another way..

Again, it's quite concerning, that the media reporting on a riot, has the potential to cause other cities to follow the act..

You don't find that tipping point behaviour concerning?

Not necessarily wanting to add to the discourse, but the concept of ‘copycat crime’ and media’s influence on it has been around since Jack the Ripper.

Well there it is, it was essentially declared a no go area yesterday. An incident so dangerous that vans of police officers were forced to withdraw.

Let's see what the repercussions are now.

That’s common sense . In the past it’s escalated to other cities so I can see why it’s not being widely reported.

    Just like that
  • It’s not the nicest area of Leeds (Harehills). Not too close to the city.

Started after a child was removed from the family home when head injuries were reported. An interview with someone close to the family suggests the child had been left alone at home with older siblings. Riots started after social services removed the child, which would have happened after a lengthy legal process, not just randomly.

Local Councillors have been there to actively and physically stop the riot from what I’ve seen.

I’ve seen a few idiots suggesting it’s because it’s a Muslim area etc, ignoring the facts.

Weirdly being totally underplayed by large media outlets but tons of coverage on twitter, YouTube etc.

Too many of the people involved dont give the Lily Allen's of this world the right ammunition for them to take a massive shit on the white working class so I guess thats why the lack of mainstream coverage
Apart from the fact it was the main story on BBC website and Sky, you’d be spot on otherwise.
Don't let facts get in the way of things....
  • Can we blame the Labour Party and a left wing media cover up? What are the conspiracy theorists saying?

Can the Clacton MP currently in the States fly back and help sort it out?
Not sure what the MP for Clacton has got to do with a riot in Leeds tbh.
  • Jesus Christ, honestly. No one condemned what happened, or actually discussed their concerns, just nit picked.

The very nature of this forum at times.

I'll edit the original post. If a mod can close the thread please, cheers.

    What are you rabbiting about…
Just making a point about agendas. I thought it was reasonably obvious...

The usual narrative will unfold with certain commentators...
