Biden's not standing for re-election.

Let the games begin.

I bet Trump was kinda hoping that Joe would stay on and make his election even more of a certainty...however, I think the Democrats could prove a difficult nut to crack now, and make a good fist of the fight with Trump...this is far from over...

  • I mean I feel like this is too late and hands Trump the keys on a plate, but whatever. Having to choose between a criminal and a octogenarian to be the "leader of the free world" is fucking insane if you ask me

The mods seem fairly clear that they don’t want this sort of stuff discussed on the forum, feels like that should be respected.

It's the biggest news story in the world.

    Is it?

    What about the Strictly kerfuffle?
I'd luv it if they renamed it that. Just luv it 😉
  • It’s a big story but just read on SSN of a father who lost his life in Sydney when he threw himself in front of a train in an attempt to save his twin daughters who were in a pram that rolled off the platform. One of the twins sadly died. It was witnessed by his wife, their mother. Then of four males found dead in the early hours whose car had left the road and hit a tree. Both absolutely tragic incidents. RIP to all those whose lost their lives in both incidents. Much more newsworthy in my opinion.

Is that a Rumba x Jive fusion?
  • Don't think he had any real choice as it was clear he wasn't going to win. Trump is still the clear favourite but at least it gives the Democrats a chance. Harris isn't very popular either, so don't rule out the Democrats going with someone like Gavin Newsom as their nominee at the convention.
  • I’m pleased…..I have nothing at all against the fella but as someone who is slowly but surely beginning to lose their sharp edge, I can only sympathise with him.
Better he goes now than slowly but surely embarrasses himself and his nation in front of countless millions worldwide.
    I wish him well.
  • Too little too late. Trump has already won
  • I thought it was bloody cruel keep wheeling him out.  The most powerful country in the world and they have produced this shit show.  Trump is worse but at least his ramblings are said with fluid speech, it’s a shame his nonsense doesn’t get closer scrutiny.
Cant see this thread lasting much longer, either a mod will shut it or the usual couple will.

  • The Democrats picked the one man who could lose to Trump.  And the Republicans picked the one man that could lose to Biden.  Thank goodness the Democrats have had a change of mind.

I disagree. His withdrawal seemed long overdue to me, but after last week's events, I feel it was vital to change the narrative going into the presidential election. It's in November, not next week. There's still time for whoever replaces him, assuming Harris for the easiest transition, to get good exposure and change perceptions.
  • November is still 4 months away.
So the Democrats have plenty of time to find a replacement to take on Trump.
But I believe they will take the easy option and give the job to Harris  and lose.
  • Biden/Southgate job swap?

I don't think the Democrat power brokers have got it in them to strip a black female vice president of their nomination even if she's walking into a certain defeat. They'd prefer 4 years of Trump than opening that can of worms.
