No consultation with users, just an announcement its moved from one money-generating multi-national network to another money-generating multi-national network.

Tells me what i need to know to be honest.

I can't remember the last time I looked on there to be honest. I get all the gossip, breaking news and inane banter I need from here.

And hey do you know what? I love you guys...

Although I did used to enjoy some of Hogswell's posts - the one about "Floyd and Harvey doing gay dancing" for pre match entertainment still makes me smile now

Has anyone actually ever met NetAddicksTrevor? Or LuckyCat for that matter....

  • Fair play to them for moving, Rivals.net was a terrible, slow service, and tolerated some awful stuff on its other sites (okay, Millwall Online).

Don't think I'll be re-registering, my small brain can't really cope with more than one messageboard.

Couldn't agree more afka. Notice that no-one from palace has taken up their clubfanzine "opportunity" yet, so there goes the banter, which was one of the few reasons to continue using it. I also notice on their registration page there is not the usual bumf about not flogging your details to viagra either, so I assume that is where they make their money. I am giving it a wide berth.

Might join the Luton one instead... [;)]
  • Well, to be fair, most of these Rivals/ Vital sites are a crock of old poo which make money for someone else. But they do at least make it easier for non-techie people to run sites (which is why blogs took off - because they're so simple to operate).

a new big network replica of Rivals, but at present it looks as if out of 92 clubs, there are only an active couple of sites.

Does this mean we are gonna get a huge intake of Ex-Netaddicks who were less than complementary about this site suddenly joining up ?

A wee bit harsh in my opinion, although the new site does seem to be down.

Not harsh at all, IMO. That site used to be for the fans, but turned into a cash cow as soon as it was moved to Rivals... I suspect the same is true now too.

Most of our squad last season didn't have an arsehole between them.

you're entirely right though Gump, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I suppose my view is probably a little bit more soured than others, and i understand that. The great original community of Netaddicks was allowed to slowly die over a very long period of time without any of the main issues being addressed.

When we decided to start doing this, we got completely panned by a few people from there, but our reasons for it were completely genuine and i could never understand the stick it generated.
We just wanted to form a nice independent community that wasn't about being part of big networks and trying to take in revenue. We wanted Charlton and Charlton fans to be the focus, and to try and have positive effects. Yet some couldn't see that. Each to their own of course, and we will continue to welcome all sensible Charlton fans on here, and continue to do what we can to improve things from a fans perspective from an independent perspective.

When we were about to launch Charlton Life i tried to contact whoever it was who runs NA and never got a reply, and the same again after we launched and never got a reply again.

Any doubts i had about whether we were doing the right thing kind of disappeared then.

[cite]Posted By: Gump[/cite]Sorry AFKA but I am sure I saw a post on NA from Trevor saying he did not have a problem with you setting up your own site.I might be wrong though.

its all in the past now mate, i have no real beef. Good luck to them.
