Up to 2 so far in the league this season, only managed 5 for the whole of last season 👏 👏

This shows clean sheets in league one for last season, I think our best keeper was 30th, would the Blackpool keeper be worth a look, they let In 3 yesterday.

I think these stats only tells half the story as a goalie needs a good defence in front of him. Maybe there are statistics on how many shots on target were saved…how many goals conceded…how many keepers mistakes?

I couldn't give a toss about clean sheets. As long as we win then that's all that matters.

The important matter comes when we fail to keep a clean sheet & need to score at least twice to win.

If you keep a clean sheet you always get at least one point, but you can score in a match and still end up with nothing.

I had been thinking that there’s probably a strong relationship between clean sheets (for & against) and where you end up in the league table but I wanted to work it out for myself…

    Last season’s clean sheet differences:

    Portsmouth +11
    Derby +16
    Bolton +10
    Peterborough +9
    Oxford +3
    Barnsley +6
    Lincoln +7
    Blackpool +3
    Stevenage +7
    Wigan +8
    Wycombe 0
    Orient -1
    Exeter -5
    Northampton -2
    Reading +5
    Bristol Rovers -5
    Charlton -5
    Cambridge -7
    Shrewsbury -12
    Burton -12
    Cheltenham -7
    Fleetwood -5
    Port Vale -9
    Carlisle -15

So if you kept 10 or more clean sheets than you allowed last season, that would’ve had you in the top 3 in the league.

So far, Charlton and Stockport are leading the way this season with +2 each.

Weird that we kept more clean sheets in 97/98 - I guess that run at the end of the season with Ilic is responsible. For me, though, 99/00 is peak CAFC. The absolute joy of that season will never leave me - I did more away games that year than any other, and we were an absolute joy to watch. Honestly - it's the only season I ever went and expected us to win every week.
  • Yeah deffo a typo in there.

  • Nuts to think we could conceivably get more clean sheets than we’ve ever got before (20) and still not make it into the championship.
  • 21-22 getting that many clean sheets in that shit season

17 in 100 years! Probably still better than last season’s defence would’ve managed.

No mention of the basket case Karel Fraeye so we can assume it's our 13 clean sheets which is the polar opposite of last season when we were like a shabby B+B hotel with only 5 all season 😱

Watch out for those ghosties, they could turn into a poltergeist and start throwing 💩 about, when you least expect it.
