    Yeah you’ll lose everything
  • I thought the kit was just leased and you had to send the box back?

    Correct.
  • You just cant win with SKY. I will have to see if I can get it reduced.£114 a month is too much.
  • I’ve got Sky Essentials which is basically free view but you get to keep the box / use SKY’s recording capabilities, which in my opinion is still the best.

    costs me £5 a month.
  • Does that include Sports?

I was paying £120 a month for SKY (just full package TV, no broadband or anything else) - I rang them to cancel and they put together another package that included everything I had before except the mini box that I never used anyway (I've got Apple TV 4K in other rooms and use SKY GO) New price £60 a month.

If you ring up to cancel they will 100% offer you a reduced rate to get you to stay.
  • They might take me at my word and cancell my sky
  • Cancel they will come back with a better offer.

It won't happen. But if it does, you can just hang up before you've agreed to anything.

Personally I cancelled my Sky using their web chat. I was paying silly money, and without sports. £110 a month or something. They offered me £80, I said no, and then they offered £60. Still said no as I genuinely didn't want it.

is that the channel / is there a premium version?

Extremely unlikely to happen. They won't just let you go without at least offering you something, they employ a retentions team for this exact purpose.

Of course it might not be an offer you think is worthwhile but you will get something.

    Deja Vu +1
  • I am paying £140/m tv & sky sport, broadband & talk. Negotiated down to £98 & agreed new contract on 25th July for full fibre streaming so making the dish obsolete. Been with Sky for 16 years.

Changed my mind & signed up to Virgin including sky sports, broadband & talk for £60/m.

Phoned Sky telling them I’m cancelling on 20th August- within the 31 day cooling off period, then they offered £80/m which I refused.

Then things got complicated, I-got cut off while waiting to talk to the cancellation department. I can’t use the online cancellation form so I have no proof of cancellation. Nearly all of their email addresses are ‘ unmanned do not reply ‘.
To say Sky’s online cancellation system is not user friendly is an understatement.

Virgin installation engineers are booked for this Thursday, can’t wait.

  • We are spending more time in the UK looking after Karen's ailing mum so her brother and sister-in-law (who are her carers) can have more breaks. As that basically entails sitting in the house for days on end I have just signed up for Now TV's sports package, £20 a month for a year (it was a special offer). Even if we only use it while we are here it seemed worth doing.

I cancelled a year or so back, didn't make me any offers to stop me at the time but within a couple of weeks plenty of offers via text and email.

I cancelled sky sports as they were forcing me to pay for sports i dont watch ie Golf Tennis Motor racing.I rarely watch football on sky as i catch up on Match of the day and highlights on the foitball league show.
I was paying £52 a month and called them to say i was cancelling sky sports as i dont watch the sports except Cricket. They said i coud have sky signature and cricket for £41 a month...Only £11 cheaper than when i had all the sports channels.Told them no and im cancelling. They didnt ask to stay or try and give me a cheaper deal so thats that no more sky.

  • for those with sky stream. I want to add sky sports, mainly to watch nfl season which is 6 months, I see now that its £30 a month rolling which is too much really, the other month it was £25 i think. Theres also the option of £22 for 24 months which im not keen on, but i did read somewhere that you can just give 31 days notice to get out of these "contracts", anyone have any experience with this?

Hi Derek, thanks for the reminder, I phoned up Sky told them I was out of contract, and what was the best deal they could do for me.

They said if I fixed with them for 24 months they’d reduce my monthly bill by £27 a month 👏 👏

If I remember if you cancel there is a 30 day notice period. Invariably they will come back to you sometime during that period with a better offer.

Last time I said I wanted to cancel they gave me a better offer straight away.
