Clan Campbell

With today's signing I make that, without checking, seven Campbells to have played for us plus new boy Allan.

Can you name the other seven?

  • Am I the only one who read the thread title as Glen Campbell?
  • Does Campbell-Ryce count?
    Does in my book
  • Does Campbell-Ryce count?
    Does in my book
Really?! This has got me thinking. What about Hackett-Fairchild as a surname? I think both are unique in our history. So have we had more surnames than players played for us?

Doubt it, they'll be more Smith, Jones, Taylors etc to balance out double barrelled surnames.

Obviously not as we've had multiple Smiths, Jones, Campbells etc so fewer surnames than 995, the total number of men's first teamers since 1921
  • You could say that the Campbells are keeping up with the Jones's
  • You could say that the Campbells are keeping up with the Jones's
    Almost

    8 Jones' plus a manager

Being a Taylor myself . The first ever Charlton player was Matt Taylor which is amazing considering we were over a hundred years old when he signed . The other three are Blacket-Taylor ( if that counts ) , Lyle “The Snake “ Taylor and Terry Taylor .

  • Not forgetting outside left, Campbell Wallace from 1931-32 season
  • For those who tell themselves they could murder a MacDonalds, you are following in the footsteps of Archibald Campbell 10th Earl of Argyll.
    (not Plymouth Argyle).

I always thought Witchita Linesman was his best song.
  • We're becoming a bit of a Campbells soup

Duhhhh silly of me. I've got festival brain. I suppose my point would be that "Hackett-Fairchild" is one surname, right, just how "Campbell-Ryce" is one surname (and thus doesn't count under Campbell).
  • But it does count as it's only a bit of fun and his name is Campbell but with another name added
  • How many Taylor’s?
