Thanks to Paul Watts for a fantastic donation of memorabilia to the museum

Fixture posters were given out to local shops and business to encourage attendances, costs being covered by advertising around the borders.

Here's one from 1975/76 but how many businesses are still trading.

@guinnessaddick reckons four.

    To be fair, the costs would have been negligible. It would have been an earner from getting people to display the ads using the fixtures as a hook, though it’s a horrible design:

    It's interesting how bland and uninspiring the adverts look. Barely any step up from a classified listing, despite the space available. I'm guessing most firms would have paid to be on there through blind-loyalty to Charlton and would have hoped that the fans would reciprocate.

    I think the Molins ad is my favourite. The 'internationally acknowledged leading precision engineering company' whose text was all over the place.
  • Love the simplicity.  Being back the 70s!!
  • Here's a later version which I hope passes muster design wise.

    Was Foley builders something to do with Theo?

    Got a couple of spares if anyone wants one in return for a donation.

    I wonder how many people signed up to become paratroopers off the back of seeing it advertised on a Charlton fixture list!

    I found this about The Valley Pub: https://charltonchampion.co.uk/2011/07/18/valley-of-doom-will-you-miss-this-lost-pub/

    Isn't Darryl Chamberlain someone on here? @InspectorSands perhaps?
