Charlton IT Security Incident

https://www.charltonafc.com/news/information-regarding-it-security-incident

Charlton Athletic can confirm that the club has experienced an IT security incident, which has affected our legacy IT infrastructure as we recently migrated all core systems onto the cloud.

In line with our cyber security protocols, we have taken swift action to stop the incident and are now working with external security specialists to investigate further.

Our investigation is looking into what happened and the extent of the incident - to do this thoroughly will take time to complete. However, our website and app have not been impacted and fans can continue to use these as normal. In addition, ticket and payment details for fans is primarily managed by a third-party and not through our systems.

Our men's first-team fixture on Saturday is going ahead as planned. We are liaising closely with the EFL, Rotherham United and the relevant local authorities regarding this incident and have also informed law enforcement.

We would like to thank our fans, players, staff and the wider Charlton Athletic community in advance for their patience and understanding at this time.

The fact they've emailed all data subjects to inform them of a incident is literally one of the first steps so i suspect they have. I have a bit of background in this, work as a Cyber Security manager and have been a DPO for a multinational.
  • Michael Hector, Terrell Thomas and Ryan Innis have been put in charge of Cyber Defence clearly

It’s a real shame that the club can’t form a partnership with a global market leader in cybersecurity solutions.

A collaboration could ensure online activities remain safe and secure, providing a range of cutting-edge services that guarantee a secure digital experience, protecting users' data on any public Wi-Fi connection. Their features include secure access to personal information and work files, encryption of internet connections and complete browsing history privacy.

A partnership could provide a fantastic opportunity for the club to benefit from market-leading cybersecurity solutions. In an age where online security is of paramount importance, these companies offer exceptional protection against online fraud and impersonation.

    I’d suggest NordVPN personally…

The EFL has issued an alert to clubs following a series of cyber attacks which have seen breaches at both Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, League One Charlton Athletic contacted police after they were hit. EFL bosses have told clubs that the problem is growing and urged them to increase vigilance given the sensitive data that they hold.
