I hate Luton. Ever since we lost 7-1. And more.0

Colchester's stadium is an affront to decencyTodds_right_hook said:
Colchester. Nothing near the ground, train into Colchester and then a bus service to the ground with a mix of home and away fans. Surely that’s more difficult to police than town centre fans.killerandflash said:
Yes they are. They might have been the solution in the 1990s, but not now. Sometimes clubs have no choice, if that's the only land, but in this case there's a large site in the centre available.golfaddick said:Is it slap bang in the town centre ? Seems a bit daft to me. An extra 25000 people trying to get into a town centre on a Saturday. I hope they've planned for plenty of parking. Free parking that is. For say, 10000 cars. Expect not.
And what happens when things turn nasty ? Millwall say ?? Luton introduced a ban on away fans due to the disturbance in 1985 iirc. Imagine thousands of hooligans having a good old punch up amongst all the shoppers.
All these out of town stadiums must be wrong then.
Most football fans hate out of town stadiums, stuck on some dreary retail park with nothing there, and it encourages car use. The new stadium will be a short walk from Luton station.1 -
I first went to Luton in '82, I last went there in 2022.

That must be seventh or eighth time in the last thirty years that's happened. I will believe it when i see it .killerandflash said:https://www.lutontown.co.uk/en/news/power-court-set-for-key-milestone-planning-date
The new stadium plans have been approved0 -
I think Bolton have the worst out of town stadium. As for Luton, their new ground looks amazing but this has been going on for 40 years or so!1

Was that 82 game just before Xmas....lost 3-0 very cold....to say the least.ElfsborgAddick said:I first went to Luton in '82, I last went there in 2022.

Go to Lewes before and then just 3-4 min by train to Falmer....better then coming from Brighton.MarcusH26 said:The worst of the out of town stadiums for me is the Amex, nothing around it , nightmare on the train , nightmare on the park and ride.2 -
I like the Amex, beautiful setting, great atmosphere, and as Hastings says, go from Lewes not Brighton.
Bolton is horrible, hate St Mary's for its out of town blandness.
Still like a ground that's tied to the town/city its in, think Portman Road is great for a number of reasons, but it's link to the Town is important.5 -

Yeah I'm over in Worthing so it's always dealing with the queueing system at Brighton to get out to the Amex that's an absolute pain.
Will agree with Southampton being pretty bad too.1 -
Something to bear in mind when the lease for The Valley runs out

Will the new Luton ground be built on the Vauxhall factory site which is closing?0

No mate, but was there around '94, finished 0-0, that was on New Years Day if I'm not mistaken. That was chilly to say the least.
