Not a band but today former CEO Peter Varney visited the museum

As well as using the Lego Valley to explain how the Valley was developed and could still be expanded, Peter also donated a huge number of items from his time as a fan and a director.
As CEO he often had first sight of prototype shirts and other rarities such as this match prepared goalkeepers shirt for the 1998 play-off final but wasn't worn, Sasa Ilic wearing a yellow and black version.
The shirt is now part of the museum's collection of over 250 Charlton related shirts.

For the record, Prototypes were a very good French band. If you get the time, their album Synthetique is on Spotify. Sadly their earlier, better, material like Danse sur la Merde, and Gentleman is missing from that platform.0

Those scarves and a Saturday afternoon in Oulu, Finland, bring back very fond memories indeed.0

The "Inter" #cafc kit is very sought after by Charlton shirt collectors but this was the one-off prototype with Mesh, not Redbus, as sponsor donated by Peter Varney yesterday.

Only that prototype isn't quite as unique as we thought as we were also given this mock up of what the shirt could have looked like.
Badges, sleeves, collar and colours all different.

I'd assumed that there were another of our shirt sponsors who suffered the curse of Charlton, but Mesh computers still exist.

I've got my old MESH computer and monitor in my loft. I bought a MESH because they sponsored us.7

Interesting, it also looks like they changed their mind on the colours of the stripes.Henry Irving said:The "Inter" #cafc kit is very sought after by Charlton shirt collectors but this was the one-off prototype with Mesh, not Redbus, as sponsor donated by Peter Varney yesterday.
This looks more like the blue llanera away shirt we had after we were relegated from the prem. The redbus version is black and blue

Never seen one of those before. Lovely shirt.0 -
The blue and black Redbus shirt reminds me of playing Dagenham away in the cup I think….Sollied said:

If you like old shirts but have any type of OCD, look away now.
This just looks "wrong"

So why does the unique shirt exist?
Coq Sportif would have made up this sample early in the 97/98 season, maybe as early as October and naturally would have used the existing sponsor, Viglen.
But Viglen's deal ran out at the end of the regular season and Mesh paid £25k to have their brand on our PO final shirts.
The new shirt design was used but with a different sponsor0 -
I remember putting up a picture a couple of years ago of Mills and Youds wearing that and the ecru version, wondering where they (the shirts!) had got to.Henry Irving said:If you like old shirts but have any type of OCD, look away now.
