Reasons to be positive for the rest of the season

A worrying performance on Saturday, but there are some indications we can still have a successful season.
- We're 4th with 13 points from 7 games. Everyone would have taken that before a ball was kicked this season. Results have been better than performances which ultimately is more important to get out of this league. If we continue with our points per game we will end the season on 85 points, almost certainly enough for the play offs.
- Leaburn is back fit. For all our wealth of striker options, we arguably have our most complete striker yet to play a minute under Nathan Jones. *insert like a new signing comment.
- Edwards is also back fit. Impressed in pre season, MOTM against Wigan and even started well against Orient. I think he is more of an attacking wing back than some give him credit for which could be crucial in the formation we play, especially with Small being out of form.
- Lloyd Jones looks a different beast this season, Coventry and Ramsey too.
- Dixon could be handy wildcard.

Don't get too high from the good results or too low from the bad ones - as a certain wise man once said.
Yep it was bad on Saturday, very bad, but unusually so. Hopefully lessons learned by all involved and we move on.8 -
We are going to lose matches this season. It’s a strange league this year because Birmingham are going to walk the league. The gap from 1st to 2nd will probably be bigger than 2nd to 7th come May.The thing about having a good start is allows to you drop a few points and not be miles behind. Realistically are promotion challenge had already been over by now in the previous 3 seasons in L1.Without doubt we are moving in the correct direction, just not sure at what speed we are travelling. October is going to be a challenging month but will enjoy the fact we aren’t already propping up the bottom half of the table. My expectations weren’t high at the start of the season, but the hope is that a good manager, plus a settled side playing in suitable formation and being able to defend would be enough to guarantee a minimum of 10th and then hope we can fine tune the side to finish in top 6.8

Luton 2018/2019 were lower midtable until around late November3

There's always twists and turns every season for every club but the very best of the best. We're not the very best, so I expect to see all kinds of things happen between now and the end of the season. And for the points in the OP's post, there's good reason to think that many things will be for the best.2
-
I personally am not worried about Saturday’s performance. It happens. Thought that play offs was about right for us this season, so would take 4th place in a heartbeat. Early days yet anyway. As mentioned in the OP, Leaburn coming back will make a huge difference. The only thing that really bothers me is the GK situation. Really don’t want a scenario where AMB ends up back in goal.0

We have been picking up points despite not playing well. That's a good start. The team hasn't been together long and will only get better. We will improve on last season for certain. We could really start to click and then there's real reason for excitement. This season may be too soon but for once in a long time, I feel hope for the future.1

We lost one game, and had a poor half, plenty to be positive about for the rest of the season2

Certainly not downbeat, just hope NJ is a manager that learns from mistakes. He's been big enough to admit his selection error, so lets put it right at Stevenage.2
-
At lot will depend on whether NJ will calm down and stop tinkering. Dropping Mitchell was inexcusable. If he thought REG would be a positive replacement because he’s better going forward, then he's made the mistake of not considering the (massive) downside, the break up of arguably the best defense in L1.I really hope Leaburn will make a difference, but we still lack the spark of creativity that we’ve had in recent years from players like Holmes, Rak Sakyi, CBT, Lyle Taylor and even Joe Aribo. Players who can turn a match round. We have Chuks of course, but there’s only so much he can do in 20 or 30 minutes.3

get the gremlins out of 'the system' early in the season .. defence is OK (when the selections are right), keeper better than I expected, the midfield and attack are the worries a t m .. plenty of time to get that right or to hold the fort until the New Year (I HOPE !!)0

An excellent defence. A solid keeper. Leaburn returning. Edwards returning. Potts getting fitter.
Coventry showing some form, TC looking decent. Dixon a wildcard. Taylor a possibility.
13 points from 7. 4th in the league.
Need to get another run together but plenty to be excited about.

We've lost one game at home. Lots to be positive about. Long season ahead with a solid defence. Leaburn to come back and the team will click.

Reasons to positive......
1) We wont get relegated.
2) that's about it.10 -
I love peoples optimism but i deal in realism.
This current team is not good enough to be top 6. Another mid season beckons unless something drastically changes like someone who can regularly put the ball in the net and score more than once in a game. Plus someone decent who can create them.
We haven't played a team in the top 12 yet either. I have seen every game (except Cambridge) and have seen nothing so far that will change that view.
Really hope that i am wrong.3 -

We haven't played a team in the top 12 yet either, actually you could argue we have, if Bolton had beaten us, they'd be in 11th etc. - That statement is also akin to "If we win, its because the opposition were shit, rather than because we were good", the League table is going to ebb and flow over the course of the season, its not exactly our fault we've not played someone currently in the top 12 either.
If you want to get real, then you can only beat what's in front of you, and we've done that apart from three games.
None of that is optimism either, its just facts.4 -
6 teams immediately below us have a game in hand and if won could go above us2

We could also be 3 / 6 / 20-pts behind them by that stage, so wont matter either0 -

The defeats against Reading and Blackpool were awful. Reading as a football club are a shambles and i think Blackpool had one of the worst defensive records prior to Saturday.
There are teams above us who have played less games but scored almost double our tally.
The wins we have had so far could have gone wither way except Shrewsbury, none of them have been convincing victories.
I am being real i am basing it on what i have seen so far....not wishing. Some people just cant faceup to that fact.2
