I had just paid 15 euros for 2 sun beds and a brolly for my better half to call me to say that there was a shopping street just round the corner that looks like Vegas. Looking at the sea from the beach, go right. Lots of bars and eating places.

Restaurants and bars in the lighthouse area, Meloneras are good. Can recommend Maximilians restaurant. Went there for the other halfs birthday while we were out there in July.

Elfie was there a couple of weeks back, maybe he’s got some info.
  • Went in April last year. There are a couple of good restaurants to the east of the lighthouse area, probably about ten minutes walk - Samsara (middle eastern) and Time (Italian).

Take a walk across the magnificent sand dunes. Visit the wildlife park and try to see a chameleon (I failed),but beware, it's next to the nudist beach, I did manage to see a cock that I really wasn't interested in. If you want a trip out of town, go to the centre of the island and walk up to the stunning Roque Nublo.

Have a great time. I'm sure you will.

I went two years back and the dunes were anything but magnificent. They were filthy and covered in litter, including, but not limited to rubber johnnies, dead wildlife and putrid pools of water. If you ignore all that being blown around in close to gale-force winds, it has genuine charm!

On the whole I thought Gran Canaria and Maspalomas was nice.

They do catapult the dwarf out there, it's different.

I was staying in Las Palmas, there is nothing I can recommend but the weather is great and the place is very relaxing.
    Have a nice time.
