Thats where I was originally going with my line up, but dont think Jones will change it all that much
Agree with Small over Edwards for this match though, just to give Thierry some game time at the very least0 -
NJ and the lads will bring it home!1

We never make the third round. Walsall will play us off the park. First goal as always, we can but hope. 2-0 to Walsall.0
-
We’ll be lucky if Dixon gets 5 minutes on the pitch, let alone starting.

Could not care less about the cup, but hopefully the team will do a job and build some confidence.

The yoof will be kept for the junior cup. This will be first team only with NJ aware success here will offset the shit league record somewhat.0

Should be a stream then1 -
Think this is a must win game for Jones. Lose and the doom & gloom around the club will be hard to shift. Saying that it’s a really tough game, with Walsall prob the equivalent to a mid table league 1 club (us?!)2

Heading down from Yorkshire for this one today. Son’s first Charlton game. Not expecting a win. If Jones has any sense he’ll want to keep the momentum going here but I expect changes.1

Walsall will be full of confidence as they have been winning games, playing well, and have beaten clubs at this level recently. I think this will be a very tough game.
Personally there is nothing to make me gloomy if we lose. I am more interested in Tuesday night and will be happy if we get through today without any more injuries.
Is there a free stream in any of the Countries showing our game?1 -

I don’t have a clue about espy plus. Do you have to register there, or pay a fee (recurring?).
I am personally dreading being at the mercy of the audio commentary because nice as those guys are, they simply don’t get it in terms of what the job is supposed to be (in my mind) which is describing to the blind what we can’t see as it happens. Only breaking away when they say why there is a pause and what will happen next, then they can talk opinion.
As in:
‘the play has stopped whilst the Walsall player is getting an injury seen to, the restart will be a free kick to Walsall a yard in from the left touch line half way inside the Charlton half. In my opinion it was worthy of a yellow card, but the referee seemed rather lenient. The free kick is taken and it’s a long ball towards the far post’.
Not.
’The referee awards a free kick for a foul there. The formation is …..blah blah blah, some rubbish’ whilst we the blind listener don’t even know which way the free kick is given.

Not lots of examples to compare to but the bookies have us as the only higher division side to be favourites to lose3

The chance to progress and draw a big club and get them down The Valley to fill the stadium justifiably unlike the Wrexham fiasco.
Nobody at the club will be saying it's a free hit.0 -

Hard to see the club sticking with Jones if we lose this and Tuesday night.0

Be nice to win but I would not swap it for a win on Tuesday … can see a few changes again especially with a league game on Tuesday .. could be a very young side out there today .
predication Walsall win after extra time0 -
Win today with a solid big team draw and a win Tuesday and suddenly things start to perk up a bit0

It would be really good to win this and get a decent draw in the third round. It would give a thoroughly mediocre season a lift and at least give us something to look forward to. We are, realistically, a mid-table League 1 side and we are hardly in a position where we need to prioritise the league.
Yes, we have Crawley on Tuesday but I see that game as a chance to pull away from the lower half of the table, where our results and performances for most of this season have threatened to land us. Our injury list is long, although we're only missing a couple of starters and the squad is hardly short on numbers.
As for today, I hope we try and play some football, rather than going long all the time. If we do so, I fear we'll be making an early Cup exit, which will only damage morale further.

I would like to see Dixon given a chance. Not expecting him to be great but it is worth a try surely.2
