Interesting how its only left wing politicians that are lauded for following their principles and using their background and experience to advance their cause.
I've always enjoyed listening to JRM, one of the better parliamentary performers of recent years.
JRM is a very nasty piece of work, a vindictive bully whose real persona is cloaked in a veneer of politeness which fools a lot of the media, including doubtless the shower who produced this. His personal vendetta against Mark Carney should have been a warning signal to sensible conservatives such as you appear to be, but it looks like you fell for his unique charm too. You appear to have forgotten that this toxic matchstick was top of the list of "bastards" that made John Major's task impossible at the time, and sowed the seeds for where the UK is today.
Now I await the self-appointed Thread-Closer-In-Chief, @eastterrace6168 demand to close down a "political thread" under the new regime guidelines, which i reluctantly accept to be necessary. At least this time I had the chance to weigh in before it goes.
I bid you all good day. 😉
Anyone that Major called bastard is a hero of mine.Didn’t realise you were so hard and Brexity right-wing. Consider the word “sensible” deleted from my description above😉
You are correct, I'm very much a Brexity right winger, but also sensible - I chose Charlton...14 -
This isn’t a debate on Brexit - that’s been done to death on here. You hate it, I think it’s the best democratic (and patriotic) decision this country has made since we voted to go into Europe in the early 70’s.
I won’t convince you of my position, and you won’t convince me of yours.
ps have you watched the programme? What did you think of it?12 -
Nobody voted for ‘Brexit’. The winning vote was for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to leave the European Union.
I very much doubt that Jacob Rees Mogg mentioned how the land border between the UK and the EU is to be managed within the concept of leaving, and in the context of the Belfast Agreement.6 -
Bingo.
ps Have you watched the programme? What did you think of it?0 -
Not watched it nor would I3

That said, based on your posting history of political and covid angst, I'd wager I'm a lot more cheerful than you!

SporadicAddick said:So did anyone here actually watch it?
Having now done so, I'm pleased to say that I like him even more.
Unlike the Smurfs, Rees-Mogg is only marginally more fun than an afternoon of chess with you, Golfie and Garth Crooks.0 -

I doubt it ended any differennt to how it started. Or was it like the Titanic and the ship never sunk?

Secondly, that's exactly how insults work. Eg if I called you Tory wanker, i don't actually assume you spend all day masturbating.
Anyway, i'm not sure i have much more to add to this conversation. I'm off to watch Meet the Smurfs, in this episode Clumsy Smurf and Brainy Smurf discuss the pros and cons of Brexit - cant wait.

Apart from being an entitled, born into wealth snob, his hedge fund and his personal wealth are atypical in that he avoids paying UK tax but claims to be a patriot, standing in front of a Union flag at every opportunity.
The problem with our country is not Unions, immigrants, workshy scroungers, but rich people, often lecturing us with their opinions but not paying their fair share of tax to create a balanced society.

Rees Mogg is the perfect recruiting sergeant for left leaning parties. I'd want wall to wall coverage of the man if I wished the Tories ill.1

Haven't watched it and won't tbh. Should have got Louis Theroux to do a three part doc then I definitely would have tuned in!2

I think you might be misreading this thread a little bit.
This morning I posted "So did anyone here actually watch it? Having now done so, I'm pleased to say that I like him even more".
No mention of Brexit.
You may be confused by James Seed quoting a post from December 3rd in response to a post from Prague Addick which had brought Brexit into the thread by calling me a Brexity Right Winger (a badge I wear with pride).
So there you go - no practical begging or cake, just your inability to understand the timeline or quoting function of a thread.0 -

I'd rather eat my own scrotum than watch that entitled old scrote.
Just saying.......5 -
I think you have to pay him (Rees Mogg) in order to be allowed to watch him because Discovery (plus?) is not a free to air channel as I understand it.
I don't know if it would be money well spent or not, however maybe Discovery plus have a money back scheme if you think the programme is either a rip off or crap and that it is money for Jacob Rees Mogg not well spent.1
