What is sad too is the poor quality of players coming out of the academy into the first team squad for me. Now all League two standard at best. No doubt because it is harder to recruit or keep the better youngsters as a League One Club with constant crises.
Bit harsh Kanu looks a gem for me
  • I'm not going Saturday and i have nothing else planned. It's a sad state of affairs. Even my 21 year old who loves going to They Valley has had enough of watching this turgid football . We shall watch it home but i fully expect more of the same old shite.

At least the Waders won (for a change).

True . Furthest they've ever been in the FA Trophy but can't buy a win in the league.

Yes definitely the worst two moments off the field but nothing compares to what we are seeing on the field now.

Just going on what the thread title says
  • There been a lot more low points then now this is just football … 10 mins from going bust completely and again 24 hours from going bust , the valley , Selhurst and Upton Park , the valley party , the Sunday morning in the rain …. going two years without seeing a single away win , mind you I did get complementary from Nicky Johns …. Richard Murray who started this slide making a right cock up during the end of his reign then long list of poor owners , crooks who basically used the clubs money for their own gains , stripped the club of assists and left it with nothing … today we finally have owners who are trying to fix all that as well as building a team to get us promotion that to be fair as just started another two windows are needed to balance the squad … the good times will return stability and calm is needed …

You never said anything about these owners from the past other than how great they were. Now you say the complete opposite.

Could you at least acknowledge this?

...agreed but the good times won't be coming whilst Jones is leading this team so the sooner he is gone, the sooner we might start seeing a ray of sunshine. I thought he was the man for the job but that's clearly not the case given how hapless this team is. Not expecting to beat Crawley at home and then massively outplayed (also at home) by Leyton-bloody-Orient cannot be tolerated by Charlton Athletic FC. If anyone suggests otherwise, then it shows how far we have fallen and makes me fear for our existence. Many people (including several on here) have been fighting the cause for decades. What we are being served up at the moment is wildly way beyond unacceptable. If what we are told is true, this is Jones' team so he's got to be held accountable. Hard to understand how we seem to turn decent managers and players into lost causes time and time again. It does feel like the club is 'cursed' in some way. Such a shame as I bloody love this club and everything it stood for - both on and off the pitch - but it feels so hard to turn the corner right now.

TJ and Slater were terrible , TJ using club money for his court case with Dennis Wise and then trying to sell the valley back to the council cause they had no money ..that’s why they left sacking if Powell to Roland they could not afford to do it plus trying to sell players

Roland ideas were very good but EFL not having the bollocks to stand by their own rules buggered it up and the mad spending over what you could afford continued ..Then we had the Arab and the crooks , Elliott and the dentist , not sure how innocent the Arab was in all this but the rest were just assist stripping taking all they could , then come Thomas who saved us we were 24 hours from going out of business .. he so wanted to be a success but the days of one man running football clubs are over even at our level .. finally we have decent owners who are rebuilding the structure of the club , talk to the staff at the club the boys and girls that work in reception , ticket office etc etc they are treated as equal by the people in charge they say the atmosphere is fantastic to work in .. that’s where you have to start

Yes friends who’ve seen him on the age group teams have said the same. I only watch the first team so not seen it yet.

You never said that at the time about Roland. You were defending him constantly under another name on here.
  • I’ve been watching Sunday League games on Clapham Common both this and last season. To be fair the standard of football at The Valley is definitely higher, but a lot of that is down to the quality of the pitch.
  • After 50 plus years of being a fan I thought I had seen the low points but every week it gets worse.
