Bert was a great name for a storm , would love it if we could have a Bert 2 … the sequel.

I thought this thread was going to be about the Posh owner!

Saying that, he does have plenty of wind at times.

Storms should be named after fossil fuel companies
Or the people that use their products?

I'd imagine Storm Chizz would be a hot air one.
  • I didn't get the government warning text message 🤬

The problem with Darragh is that it is still developing and most of that will happen if/when and which side it exits the Jet Stream.  The effect is called 'bombing' and results in winds strengthening very rapidly, hence the need for advance warnings.  All forecasts I have seen to date suggest London/NW Kent will get hit least but .... be prepared !
  • Just had the government alert thing for the red warning. Wondered what the hell that noise was ! (I’m not in the south east btw)

Around three million people in parts of Wales and south-west England have been sent an emergency alert from the government as Storm Darragh approaches the UK.

It is the largest use of the warning system yet and has been sent to the mobile phones of people in areas covered by the Met Office red weather warning for the storm.

The alert made a loud siren-like sound when it was delivered to devices, even if they were set on silent. The alert lasted for around 10 seconds.

  • Naming storms in the UK, another example of copying America
The Met office named this one.....with an Irish name.

And the one 2 before was called Bert. I mean at least it should have been called Bertie.
The Dutch named storm Bert, seem to be taken it in turns with the Met Office and the Irish.

Well the weather forecasts are going to be fun when we get to N. More variations in pronunciation than when Josh Laqeretabua plays.

    Merseyside derby just been cancelled.
  • Merseyside derby off
  • Twice? Blimey!
  • Would be a shame if my season ticket that's been conveniently placed next to an open window is claimed by Storm Daragh
Leave it on my garden fence if you like, the way things are looking right now they'll find it in Peru
