Charlton Vs Leyton Orient - Match Preview - Vertu Trophy Second Round kickoff 7pm Tonight

Morning all, given the lack of chatter for this game, and for Charlton games in general, I thought I'd throw up a quick thread for tonight.
Charlton
A string of lacklustre performances has led to many writing off this season altogether, however as Nathan has repeatedly told us, we've been good in the cups, and he'll personally be hoping we carry that on tonight and can then continue that momentum into the league form. We finished top of our group and that has given us the plum tie of a London derby under the lights, however I fear the atmosphere will be anything but special tonight.
With the under 21s playing this lunchtime, and a rather depleted squad slowly regaining bodies, Jones is left with a bit of a head-scratcher in terms of selection. Does he continue to rotate the youth into the games, or does he try and maximise momentum and play the entire first XI? I think he'll stick with option 1 and a couple of players like Enslin, Laqeretabua and Reid might get a start
Leyton Orient
16th in the league but off the back of 3 straight wins, the O's will be bouyant, and looking to continue that form into tonight, they scraped through the group stage with a 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss, but they'll be looking at tonight as an opportunity to get one over us I'm sure

That’s a great team2

Have no idea how strong Jones will go for this one now it's a knockout and against a fellow L1 team. We'll know more at 12 as we see who plays for the U21's. I think we will probably see a front two containing two of Leaburn, Kanu & Ahadme but beyond that I will wait for the U21 team news first!0
-
Start with the team that will play on Saturday and let’s see if it’s likely to work or not. That will save Nathan picking it on Saturday and if/when it doesn’t work waiting until half time and the 65th minute to make changes.3

At last we're back to the main competition, and our best chance of success this season...5

If Berry starts, let's hope he doesn't repeat his performance in the last game against Bromley.0

is this spectacle "live" on CTV or Sky?0

No problem. Rule of thumb from this season onwards, if it isn't Saturday 3pm or the FA Cup it's on Sky red buttonlancashire lad said:thanks fen1 -

I really hope Asiimwe, really seems pointless recalling him from his loan and not giving him a chance. Hearing Jones says that our right side has been decimated is very odd when he has a natural Right Back playing u21 games, and instead he's giving a chance to Laqeretabua, who with all due respect is a Centre Back.9
-
Enslin playing for the U21's but no Dixon or Asiimwe9
-
Ridiculous really, when Asiimwe is an attacking RB, and therefore much more suited to our current sides which need attacking width from the full/wingbacks, something Laqeretabua can't provide.L0rd_M0ntagu3 said:I really hope Asiimwe, really seems pointless recalling him from his loan and not giving him a chance. AMB
Asiimwe, REG, Gillesphey, Small
T Campbell, Docherty, Enslin, Dixon
Leaburn, Kanu
I appreciate that's far too attacking and too much width for Lord Jones, but that's what I would play. I wouldn't risk Jones or Mitchell, or Taylor.0 -
Would like to see Dixon start.0
-
Think we'll stick with 352
AMB
REG Jones Gillesphey
Asiimwe Taylor Small
Doc Berry
Ahadme Leaburn
Would like to see Dixon & Kanu get some decent minutes, expect Edun off the bench and Laqeretabua to get some minutes too0 -
Looks like no Clare or Pratley for them so no ex players likely to score.
Have we gone past this round before ? Have a good chance and will be eagerly (🙄) tuning in at 7pm to find out.
3-1.0 -
They still have Jaiyesimi as well. so now you've done itgolfaddick said:Looks like no Clare or Pratley for them so no ex players likely to score.

3-1.
We got to the Quarter-Finals (the next round) in 2021/22 but lost on pens @ Hartlepool0 -

Would like to see this but maybe Potts in the back 3 if he’s fit enough. Would maybe not risk Lloyd Jones either and just save him for Saturdayfenaddick said:Think we'll stick with 352
