A lot of doom mongering coming from the head of NATO.
What are the thoughts of those here of military age about the potential of being called up to serve?

If the current generation get called up we might as well surrender.13

It's all hopefully politicking ahead of Trump getting in so negotiating positions on both sides are strong is what i think is occurring since us election with the rhetoric and escalations in it from both sides since then.
And to apply political pressure for defence spending and justify taxes to pay for it when most people are already feeling over taxed and skint.
Trump has validly pointed out before that the US bear the brunt of NATO financial commitments and others need to step up financially which as a us taxpayer would probably be justified. So probably tapping into that too.

Going down Cromwell’s Madhouse this morning to buy some camouflage cargo trousers. Important to be prepared4

Any actual war is likely to turn nuclear so I wouldn't worry about it as it will all be over very quickly.
But thats all out war & I dont think that will happen. Putin / Russia aren't that stupid and, as Sting once sang, Russia love their children too.
And if this is all just because of something someone at NATO has said then take it with a pinch of salt. They have a vested interest in war so are just bigging up their corner.
Just relax & enjoy the festive season. Bon Noel.2 -
If we invaded, would any bottles of vodka brought back be duty free? Not sure on post war pillaging laws2

We’d all be fucked.Russian soldiers are massive…..and when they die, you unscrew them at the waist and then another (slightly less massive) soldier pops out. They better only call me up when they are down to the Gary Coleman sized soldiers.16

If it's like ukraine, the average fighting age will be 50 within 3 months so no need to worry too much about the youth!
Just learn to be faster than the man nect to you, so it's not you getting hit by a drone.

Russia can’t afford a war and there’s no way China would get involved.1

All of Europe, or any democratic nation, needs to be in a position to be able to defend themselves (including against asymmetrical threats - for anyone who has seen video of the DHL pallet on fire in Birmingham or remembers the use of Novichok, people like those in Putin's regime don't care much about bystanders).3 -

As for Russia (Putin) loving its children, it hasn't shown much love for all the Russian soldiers who have been killed in this conflict.3 -
No chance of war between NATO and Russia.
Nuclear armed states will not risk an out and outwar between themselves.1 -

How true it was or relevant now i don't know but think that regardless of how much war gaming is done no one would logically risk it given what would be at stake and it's potential to go global instantly.
There's no logic or rationale for it so despite how ruthless and evil that **** Putin is he's not suicidal.
Iran and North Korea on the other hand don't operate on the same ideology.
Edit that's what I read

Genuinely don’t think Putin could take on NATO and stand any chance in a conventional confrontation and he 100% knows that. His military have struggled to dominate Ukraine and without the help of North Korean troops would be in real trouble. He has nuclear weapons but won’t go down that road. He’s been amassing millions of dollars year on year for decades and is probably the richest man on the planet. Same goes for his elite military advisors. At some point he’ll want to fully enjoy that stolen fortune and pass it on. In any case I doubt his top military brass would allow a nuclear confrontation. Everyone has family and loved ones. Going down that road means committing them to death. Can’t see it.1

Every Russian soldier deployed to the border of Ukraine on day 1 of the conflict (190,000-ish) has died, become a casualty or been captured 4 times (750,000-ish).
I also think Putin knows there's only two ways out of his situation, one is victory, one is death, but that's my opinion rather than fact!
Russia would stand less than no chance in a conventional warfare scenario against Poland let alone NATO...0
