Whether or not they might be refugees has no relevance - just probably at least 60 new patients with no local GP to access.
The sooner we make our proposed downsizing to TW , the better.
You appear to be trying to make a point at my expense.
But if/when we move, we'll be downsizing from a 3 -4 bed house ( which is now too big for us) to a 1 bedroom flat, with no stairs, less rooms to heat etc and closer to amenities.
As such, we'll be making a house, fit to accommodate a family of 5 or 6, available to purchase whilst we merely need a much smaller property, ideal for the 2 of us.
I'd venture to call this a sensible solution for all concerned.
So, what IS your problem ?
Oh, and if this "plan" comes to fruition, as with the combining of 2 GP Surgeries into 1 /more houses built on the site, that means the Wadhurst Surgery will be even LESS fit for purpose with said additional patients on their books.
But of course it's easy to jump to conclusions when you don't have this problem....More houses are going to keep being built, that’s a good thing, having less GP surgeries to look after more people is clearly a bad thing, but doctors, nurses and receptionists need paying and you can see exactly how people respond to any suggestion on taxes rising to pay for that right here on CL.My fear is you end up with the problem here, no GPs at all and a bill after every visit to the hospital, that’s a much bigger problem, for many, many people.2 -

The last time I saw a doctor was about 9 years ago. I thought I had a splinter in my hand and decided to remove it. A few days later I had another go followed a few more goes. Turns out I had something growing out of hand. So anyway back then you could get an appointment relatively easy. Turns out I was self operating on a granuloma. The doctor was quite interested and I ended up seeing 3 GP that afternoon, they were all quite interested what I had and what I had done. Believe it or not it is not uncommon for men to have a go at a bit of DIY healthcare.I had made such a mess I ended up at St Thomas’s having to have real surgeon repair the bodge I had done. I had tried self surgery on my notes at the hospital, which I thought was amusing but the doctor obviously didn’t.It was a silly thing to do and I’m not the first man to do something like this. I have a real fear this sort of strange behaviour will become more common when people are at their wits end in pain but can’t get to see GPs.As I get into my 60’s I do genuinely worry what lays in store for me and my wife. At present we are both in fine health but what are the chances we get to the end without having to use the our GP? I think we are seeing the beginning of the end of our health care system, I wonder what could have happened to it.2

I managed to see my GP today. I dropped my strides and pants and bent over for my prostate exam, but the rude bastard just carried on pushing his trolley round Asda!12

Closing the thread to give me time to work out whether it's worth tidying up or not.
