Charlie Boy talking

The squad is clearly too big that’s pretty evident. CM talking as if he and his mates aren’t to blame is the problem
    Is it though?

In numerical terms any real difference to other seasons?

    The issue remains quality.
I don’t have the numbers in front of me but yes, a squad any bigger than 25 is too big and will have unhappy players. If you have less players you can hopefully spend more on quality but that comes back to CM’s mates again…

But different to last year ?
  • Cnut looks like he wears red jeans
  • He'll try to convince supporters, but his silly smug fat face will not be smiling once the Yanks see him next time.
They will see things are not working and he'll not be able to worm his way out of that.

Charlie, I have watched every minute of league and cup(s) football this season (either live or on stream), plus a lot of the academy.
It is virtually the same as last season but without the hope and joy of watching Alfie May and George Dobson, but with the astonishment of watching Gary Docherty (despite Saturday) and Gassan Ahadme.
I was also present at the ‘tribute’ to Kevin Nolan, were you?
Seth, have you attempted to contact anyone at the Club about the half arsed tribute to Kevin Nolan which you seem hell bent on shoehorning into every comment you make? If you have then great and please let us know what response you get, if any. If you haven’t then why not if it bothers you so much?
What would be the point? So that somebody could explain something that needs no explanation?
What happened was crass and disrespectful, and indicates what I take to be the alienation of the supporters from the club, because what happened seemed like a tawdry afterthought
  • If it's more out than in, I get the horrible feeling the "outs" might be somewhat more for money than "shifting dead weight".  We'll see I suppose.
    Biggest amount incoming for Leaburn.

If you are not prepared to do that then it obviously doesn’t bother you that much.

So telling the club directly is pointless... but talking about it here with people who couldn't have changed it before and certainly can't afterwards is... what, exactly?
…is commenting on an aspect of our club that is shameful.
  • Even though our performances and style of play has been woeful, truly dreadful, I'd probably agree that a really good midfielder with some creativity, and another forward, could be all that's needed to change a lot.
  • His strategy is to sell players before they melt and have no value. It was a major factor in selling May.

    A message board?

FACT:  May and Dobbo wanted to go doubled their wages.

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong but in my opinion most tributes/memorials have, since the days of Roger Alwen, been fan led, yes the directors were on board with those events but it took the fans to raise awareness and the club to facilitate the associated event. How many in the club now are supporters and also how many have any recollection of the relevance of the people who helped this club recover after the dark days of Selhurst paid or unpaid by the club ? If we are disappointed by the tribute offered to Kev Nolan then it's probably worth supporters organisations taking it forward and making sure it doesn't happen again, but just for a matter of perspective, in September 2025 it will be 40 years since we departed the Valley for Selhurst, I remember it well but should we be so surprised that almost forty years later a lot of people do not attach the same importance to the event or to the people who were at the forefront of righting that wrong ?

Not really a subject for today but 1) Kevin wrote reports for nearly 40 years up to and including this season; he didn’t have a great deal to do with the Valley campaign and 2) many such tributes have been led by the football authorities and the club, some of them highly marginal, with fans expected to take part (and doing so out of courtesy and respect). None had ever taken place at half time, when club officials and staff could and did absent themselves. It was bizarre. But I agree there is a risk that going on about it assigns the disrespect shown by the club more importance than it deserves. Who cares what the people who avoided it think?
    Agree Airman.

Thing that gets me is he always talks about having a look under the bonnet. How long do these guys want under the bonnet to work out how they’re supposed to get the car started and driving in the right direction? There may have been a number of new parts added, some shiny ones from the outside but there’s still a lot of rust and broken parts. It’s been wholly unconvincing for a while now and I think the majority shareholders know that too.

I imagine he'll be singing a different tune if his mates Rodwell and Scott get turfed out and others get brought in.

    Wait a minute.....players melt?
  • Wonder who's behind these commercials? They seem like a new thing -

Yeah, understand the link and sponsership, but personally never noticed ads like that on the Club's official social media pages before, with discount codes etc.

We've done them since at least 2022 (yes I was sad enough to check!)

Just scrolled back on Instagram and Facebook and only see this same one 6 days ago, although there were official ads / partnership announcements with Kelogs, Jamesons and Meantime, back in the summer.

Not really a problem, just thought we'd changed tact as far as commercial income is concerned, and wondered if Methven might be behind it seeing as he comes from a marketing background.
