243-5 at tea. We need to take 4 or 5 wickets depending on the fitness of Eskinazi and Middx require 122 runs off a minimum, weather permitting, of 34 overs.
Presumably as a stepping stone to getting him match fit for Kent, Mikey Cohen is playing for Canterbury today in a friendly against Whitstable.
Cohen returned figures of 6-1-27-3 on Saturday with one of his victims being Freddie Fulton, the son of the former Kent captain and current batting consultant, David. Kent have a 2s game starting tomorrow so, hopefully, he will play in that and then be available for first team selection.
At the end of the day we couldn’t have ever expected to have won with that poor first innings performance once again, hope leaning is dropped and Richards is sent back to Essex ( way way off this level required at the moment)
Apart from that really poor show in the first innings, the real disappointment, for me, as much as he has been very miserly, has been Kashif Ali. To date, he has returned figures in his three matches of 5-333. Given that Dudgeon took 8-69 I can't help thinking that he might have wrapped things up today. Hopefully, Kashif will come back for one final burst and prove his worth.
I do think that we have over-done the appealing but Middx really have been given the benefit of the doubt with one in particular just now from Kashif looking like it was smashing into the stumps.
Gutted we lost but well done Captain Bell - Drummond for putting us in a position to possibly win this match after our pathetic first innings capitulation. Sadly the bowling, given all the injuries, wasn't quite strong enough to bowl Middlesex out twice.
The neutral would probably describe this as a good game rather than the disappointment I consider it.
The 2s are playing Essex in a 3-day game. Grant Stewart is playing which is positive but no Cohen on the team sheet. We are currently 183-0 off 32 overs with the two youngsters Jaydn (89* off 98) and Ekansh (88* off 94) plundering the Essex bowling.
It's always interesting to see who is playing in these 2s games. There are two current Minster CC players - Bill Prideaux who was part of the Essex Academy and Mohammed Rivzi who has turned out for Essex 2s are in the Kent whereas James Speer, who is from Kent, is in the Essex team. Bryce Street from Queensland is a trialist for Kent as is Luke Pearson-Taylor who has played for Somerset and Glamorgan 2s.
