  • Surrey have released Ari Karvelas, Bertie Foreman, Archie Lenham, Zach Lion-Cachet and Henry Rogers. Karvelas is the one that has previously been mentioned as possibly joining Kent but the one that I'm a bit surprised with is Lenham.

The son of former Sussex player, Neil, made his debut in the Blast as a 16 year-old, is still only just 21 and his last competitive game was a match winning contribution of 5-48 in the 50 over comp. Sussex do have other alternatives but it just goes to show that precocious talent isn't enough especially if spin is your only suit. Hope someone picks him up nevertheless.

Lenham is very very unlucky. If we hadn't signed Danny Briggs on a T20 deal I suspect he would have stayed. We've also got Troy Henry from the ACE academy programme who seems to be highly thought of too.

Been overtaken as the second spinner by James Coles behind Jack Carson but gave a very good account of himself in the ODC and I hope he finds himself a county because there's a real talent there.

Karvelas to Kent just makes too much sense not to happen. If you're after young middle order talent that can give you a bit of fill in spin Zach Lion-Cachet is probably worth a look , haven't seen a huge amount of him this summer because he's been on international duty for Netherlands.

Apologies. Surrey live rent free in my head!
  • Back in the 1970s the Gillette Cup Final was usually held on the weekend of the 3rd/4th/5th September. Weather at that time of year was always a concern and winning the toss and putting the opposition in was, more often that not, the order of the day. The odds of the weather being, typically, better by the final of the 50 over comp being held over two weeks later are going to be pretty huge so the toss, with the cloud cover, possible rain to come plus the advantage of batting second knowing what DLS is, could be a ridiculously massive advantage in what should be a 50/50 call.
  • Worcs won the toss and of course they are going to bowl.

@leuth stuck between a rock and a hard place. Screaming at the TV dogs abuse at the Hants captain, Gubbins, for not giving the spinner a sixth over and then shouting with glee that he enabled Worcs to win in not doing so!
  • Is this...silverware?

You won it like 3 years ago!
  • A shame the weather had an impact.

Yes it's a downgraded competition, the cricket version of the EFL Trophy now,  but when you're a player or spectator there it really matters. I really enjoyed Kent's victory 3 years ago.
