I'm assuming I'll be able to get tickets on the day, late decision will be made, train from Kettering will be our starting point.1

There are no direct trains to Rotherham from London, but there is a choice of routes, from Kings Cross change at Doncaster or from St Pancras change at Sheffield.

We are given all behind the goal, around 2,500 you'll be able to buy on the day without any problems.

Ducktapeshoerepairs said:Anyone know the best route ? Via Doncaster or Sheffield ?Doncaster would usually be the cheaper route for advance purchase train tickets, timewise probably not much in it.As you have to change for both routes Doncaster would probably be better as you have a few boozers next to the station.Worth getting to Rotherham early as it is a cracking drink, loads of boozers offering very cheap alcohol.

However, there are a few places that I'd not necessarily want to live but are a cracking day out.Exeter, Bristol and Shrewsbury are very nice places tbf.1

Travel information
For those who are travelling to/from Kings Cross/St Pancras on Saturday.Major engineering works will hit both the Jubilee Line, Southeastern Metro and Thameslink services all weekend – making travel to and from parts of SE London much more difficult for thousands of people.
The Jubilee Line will be closed between Green Park and Stratford all day on Saturday and Sunday, with no trains at North Greenwich.
Meanwhile, most Southeastern Metro services will be reduced to a bare minimum all weekend because lines to Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street and Blackfriars will all be closed.
The only trains running through Greenwich and Woolwich Arsenal will be a half-hourly service between Dartford and London Bridge.
