Shame it's not for peak tickets.0

Thought the thread was about the sale of train company.

Not sure if already mentioned on here, but the rail sale is back this year. I got some bargains last year, hoping for more this time round. Starts on Tuesday, Jan 6th.

This is currently on again….. don’t know if it’s useful for game days/times….. sale ends midnight on next Monday 12th Jan0
-
I've rinsed it for my commute for the next 2 months - £3.60 single from Tunbridge Wells to London terminals, on some weekday peak-time trains.3
-
I've booked trains for the Middlesbrough away game this way, via York. Nothing for Leicester though.WrightCharlie said:This is currently on again….. don’t know if it’s useful for game days/times….. sale ends midnight on next Monday 12th Jan0 -
Is there a special link or do you just use the normal sites? I've looked at a journey form Reading to Paddington next week and it's the same as usualEr_Be_Ab_Pl_Wo_Wo_Ch said:I've rinsed it for my commute for the next 2 months - £3.60 single from Tunbridge Wells to London terminals, on some weekday peak-time trains.0 -

It's really only for longer journeys than that.PrincessFiona said:

No special links or codes needed - just use your usual booking sites. It's at the discretion of the rail firms which routes/times and how many tickets they sell at the lower prices; once they're gone, they're gone.PrincessFiona said:

I'm on the line out to Hastings, pretty much all tickets are half price or better, but not for some of the shorter journeys on the line. But peak time evening from London there's nothing at all.
On another line, London to Charlton there's nothing I can see, but London to Dartford there is.
So it's a bit hit and miss, but worth a look.0 -
Thanks - none at all between Reading and Paddingtonsuperclive98 said:

Had an email from LNER, states does NOT include discounts from using railcards (Senior Card etc)
Don't know if this applies to other companies1 -
I make that right, the rail sale is all about advance fares. There's no overlap with those and the fare types which use railcards. Might be some exceptions to the rule, would be good to learn about any.Lincsaddick said:Had an email from LNER, states does NOT include discounts from using railcards (Senior Card etc)

I managed to pick up some peak fares from Canterbury, £6 fare into London on the slow line into London Bridge, and a £12 return on the fast train.
absolute steal compared to the normal fares. 3 -
I've been wanting to visit Durham to see a friend for ages but the fares on LNER have been over £100 for a return trip most of the time.
In the current sale I managed to buy a ticket for £25.10 each way. Still more than I used to pay before the government took over LNER.
Strange but true. Newcastle which is further away is cheaper.2 -
A bump as this ends at midnight, and covers travel for the next 3 months.
Just booked Southampton tickets (21st Feb) for £24.80, I could have got it even cheaper with other trains.0 -
Top man, thank you for the reminder. Got Saints sorted for 24 quid too.killerandflash said:A bump as this ends at midnight, and covers travel for the next 3 months.

I was, thanks. It'll increase the journey time and hassle, but it is what it is...clive said:killerandflash said:A bump as this ends at midnight, and covers travel for the next 3 months.

Yep, cheers, Clive. Uber from Eastleigh to avoid a replacement bus and the same going back. Will double the cost of the rail tickets and bang goes the saving !clive said:killerandflash said:A bump as this ends at midnight, and covers travel for the next 3 months.

I'm happy to use the replacement bus. It's only a short journey, and I'm sure plenty will be laid on. Plus if they screw up, it'll be "their fault" if I can't get my exact booked train on the way back.9goalswentpastperry said:
