Denis Law is right up there amongst my most favourite players of all time.
Scorer of many astonishing goals, which he celebrated with a raised arm and a big smile on his face. Although he had a slight frame, he thrilled the crowds wherever he went with his courage, determination and great talent.
Back in the day, Denis made a unique contribution to that famous Manchester United team, which abounded with world-class talent. They had a charisma all of their own, which will never be forgotten.
Thanks for the memories, Denis, which came flooding back after reading the very sad news of your passing today. RIP
I'm too young to have seen him play - honest! - but I respect the opinions of others who say he was one of the greatest.
However, from what I've seen of him over the years (on TV) he seemed like a great character and one of those blokes who always seemed to have a smile on his face and a glint in his eye. One of the old skool characters, grounded in reality, that football doesn't really seem to produce anymore.
He was world class and as feisty as they come. When he was called before the board after being sent off, his teammate Paddy Crerand said he didn’t swear at the ref, he called him a coot. Priceless.
Best, Law, Charlton.... there's a reason he's bracketed with those two greats of the game. He was a wonderful player, and possibly the first not to celebrate a winning goal when he back heeled a late winner that relegated United. RIP
An iconic moment. Was a great player, with Best and Charlton in a great united team.

Mad to have 3 Ballon d'Or winners in 5 years, and all playing together.
Whilst a fantastic footballer, not a fan of him personally. Despite playing and earning the vast majority of his career/money in England, stated that our WC win in 66 was the blackest day of his life. If he hated us that much, why didn’t he fuck off and play somewhere else?
He was my boyhood hero. Not only a great footballer, but a genuine nice guy, no airs and graces, and modest too. I had the privilege of meeting him once and was surprised at how slight he was, but if a defender kicked him Denis Law would kick him back rather than go down. RIP Denis.
Shame some like to take time out to make him seem like some sort of, well….I don’t even want to imagine what’s going through their tiny minds.
Actually…. “not a fan of him personally”.
What did he do that made you make that comment at such a time?
It doesn't really matter, does it? We're all allowed an opinion, even if you may disagree. No need to make it personal about other posters. As you say, not really the place for squabbles.

Squabbles?
Maybe look again at the title of the thread.
How many other RIP threads have you seen “not a fan of him personally” and agreed with that timing?

Shameful.
Don't start on me mate. You can see what I've already said.

Gawd knows how much he'd be worth in the modern game.
RIP.
A real character.
May he RIP.

Belive he spoke at CASC do in Bexleyheath in place of George Best, or was it other way round?

As a kid who dreamed of being a striker he was everything I wanted to be.
Glad I got to see him play on a few occasions.
