Storm Éowyn

The whole of island of Ireland will be on Status Red (risk to life) from midnight tonight as Storm Éowyn comes to town.
It’s already blowing a hoolie here in West Cork.
I’m genuinely worried about how this is going to pan out.

    Cheers Bob.
More worried about the animals tbh. They all get genuinely stressed during the winds and as it’s at night it’s always worse.
Just hope the barn survives 🙏🏻

It'll be fine. I read on here there are fewer extreme weather events nowadays. Fake news from the meteorologists.

In all seriousness, stay safe. My partner's family hopefully likewise

Does look very bad in Ireland

Flying to Cork in a weeks time don’t think I’d fancy it later

If I were due to fly into anywhere in Ireland from now until tomorrow evening I’d reschedule. It’s hard enough to land at Cork at the best of times 😱🫣😳

Hopefully it's not as bad as it is currently being painted KB's...but not seen a Red alert given before in such a confined area, take care everyone in it's path...

Is this your first red weather warning in Cork?  I'm guessing that, like Cornwall, you are not a stranger to Atlantic storms

Wishing you all the best for your whole household, both 2-legs & 4, and hoping your roofs survive undamaged.

Storm Ophelia in 2017 was the last red one I think.
They’ve literally only just finished the repair to a forest walk near Lough Hyne after most of the trees were destroyed.
    Its gone eerily calm now.

Our Forecasting guys and girls are up monitoring this. Stay safe in Ireland/NI and parts of Scotland, it's going to be very strong I'm afraid.

It’s much worse along the west coast than here apparently. Himself has just been out to check the goat shed, all ok atm 🤞🏼

Are you forgetting Leitrim has 4km of coastline on the West? 😂😂

Ahhh that wee bit next to Sligo? I wasn’t discounting it, as I said, it’s worse in the west than here in the south west 😜

Normally a very light sleeper, but had my best nights sleep in months, read this thread when I woke up and thought it sounded bad in Ireland

    Looked out the window...

I was awake from 3-6am in SE London due to the wind and rain. Didn’t think we were due to be impacted here.
  • Stay safe everyone.
