  • After beating Bolton away you'd think the next 2 home league games against relegation fodder should be nailed on wins. But this is Charlton, who can beat a top 8 side but lose against one in the bottom 4.

Also.....never liked Shrewsbury & Marquis loves scoring against us.

    1-1 and another false dawn.
  • My first missed home game in a year :-(

If we really want to make this season one of contention then there’s no excuses and there needs to be no slip ups here. Only concern is how Shrewsbury raised their game recently v Wrexham
Fair weather fan. When we get promoted I’ll ask where you were for the 4-0 drubbing of Salop 😉
  • feels like an away fixture. To get to the game with the lad ive got to leave westcombw park now, drive him to play for school against berkhamsted and then just about get back in time.

So we will probably play shit, be awful to watch and lose.
  • Looking at the table we really need to win today, 5th and 6th are definitely catchable
  • I’ve had no expectations from this uninspiring team all season but recent form has got me hoping we can win the next two so as to make my visits to The Valley in February exciting after all.

Therefore, we will probably lose or draw today and just pick up 2-4 points from the next 3 matches when we should be getting 6. It’s the habit of the decade. Sorry.
  • A hard fought 2-1 win.
  • Think the group are going to be right up for this today and want to lay down a marker to kick on. Our run of fixtures now mean we have to be picking up results to achieve what we want to. There has been a lot of talk since Tuesday about how we need to back it up and how everyone is together. Time to go out and show that with a good win today.

I think the fact Watson played yesterday for the U21s and Ramsay wasn’t involved tells me he is going to be today. We’ve seen how good Small is in this new role and I think we need to try and continue with it. Ramsay and Small down the right side is interesting.

Got a good feeling from today and think despite Shrewsbury undoubtably a better team under Ainsworth than they were before, I think our quality will show and we get another clean sheet.

For the first time at home this season we score 3 goals.

    3-0
    Leaburn
    Berry
    Aneke

    CAFC, red and white army…
  • I hope our new midfielder that was unveiled during the fans meeting gets a run out 😂😂😂
  • The sun is shining, blue skies, just 3 games in London today, Charlton, Orient and QPR so one for the football tourists to come along to The Valley to see Charlton pick up another 3 points…3-0
  • i think this is the day when we do finally reduce that 4 point gap a little and with a full squad and a decent run of home fixtures, we inch closer to the top 6 - however, without wanting to put a downer on things and maybe the wrong thread but i've never once felt like we are watching a promotion team this season. When i look back at all our promotion teams of the past that i've seen, there's always been a feeling that we are a good side and this could be the year - hopefully the right couple of signings can do that but i'm doubtful - hope i'm wrong COYR !!

  • Game between two poor sides. Hoping we scrape a 2-1 win and retain possession a bit better.

    Got lucky against Bolton.
  • This should be a nailed on 3 points but obviously this is us !!! Hopefully the team are up for the opportunity to closing the gap to the playoffs and come out meaning business. Take the foot off the gas because this is only Shrewsbury then disappointment written all over it 😡
saying that I think they will make sure the 3 points are safe
  • I don't know if he's asked not to go too far forward but I seem to remember looking at Josh Edwards YouTube video just after he signed and thought he'd banged in a few goals and was around the box a fair bit? ........ it would be good to see more of that from him.

I think there’s been too much negativity from recent years to transition away from to have jumped to looking like a ‘promotion’ team straight away. Having a consistent side for a while now will pay dividends because that’s how a team spirit and understanding is built and, as we saw the other night at Bolton, it makes it a lot easier for the other players to come into and have an impact. We are nicely positioned as things stand, we just need to go out there and grasp it now.

I've heard he's so good... the opposition wont see him coming...
  • Looking forward to it even more so if we do see Small and Ramsey operating on the flanks.

Nathan has told him to cut that out and practice more throw ins I've heard.

Would be harsh on Edwards who’s been a very solid signing. Not as eye catching as Small but a good all rounder, and like those two has the potential to play in the Championship.

Id prefer to keep small and Edwards where they are drop mitchell probably and put Ramsey in there rcb, would link up better with small I reckon on the right saide aswell.

Agreed, but only Birmingham look like a promotion team, so 2 “average “ teams are going to get promoted.

I believe Doucher was referring to physically watching the team from the stands meaning nobody else can comment on other sides because we are not there to watch.

I occasionally watch Wrexham, Stockport and Wycombe games on my firestick and the hi lights show and all three are far more pleasing on the eye than watching us, and look more like promotion winning sides
  • Question is were Wycombe masters of the dark arts or was it Ainsworth? I think the latter. His team then were horrible to watch  and I have no idea what the Slop are like now. But they have picked up excellent wins and could well get out of that bottom 4. But it is up to us to keep them there. And if we are the best version of ourselves we will do just that. 1-1, we fail to be that.
I00% tough game and probably not pretty to watch

3 points would be nice. 2-1

Not through choice @Pelling1993 sadly The Valley isn’t the easiest place on crutches. Firestick borrowed so I can still have my afternoon ruined by Charlton 🤣
  • Ainsworth built a physical and direct team at Wycombe. At Shrewsbury he's working with an inherited group of players, so the team won't really be in his image yet. So far this window they've brought in 3 players from non league, probably for the future, maybe next season in L2, rather than this season.

A game we ought to win comfortably. We have another game on Tuesday, so a small amount of squad rotation would seem sensible.
  • Think we will be up for this, 4-0.
    COYRS!!
  • Despite having a season ticket, I've managed to miss every home win apart from Birmingham FFS! Sorry all, I'm going today so if we don't win you can blame me
