Just heard this, gutted. Met him a couple of times fairly recently, really nice guy.

  • OMG - so sad - The Jam - well utterly superb, and part of the soundtrack to my youth

    Great drummer

    RIP

    Gone way too young

    RIP
Superb drummer. His drum solo in funeral pyre is one of the best.

    Noooo.

being born in 1970 was just too young to be properly into them ‘in real time’ but my favourite band after Rolling Stones.

Always hoped they would somehow reconcile.

    RIP

Was never going to happen unfortunately, the last time Weller spoke to him was in 1983. He said he tried but he never responded to calls, letters, or even Xmas cards.

He said he couldn’t understand why as there’d been no acrimony when they split.

Not really a Jam fan but they did make some great songs.

    RIP.

RIP to the beat behind The Jam, such a powerful 3 piece and one of my favourite bands of all time.

Late to the party as far as The Jam are concerned, but absolutely love their music none the less and have done since my early teens.

    RIP, Rick

Saw them live in 82, even though I was and remain a metalhead, a gutsy no frills show,  RIP Rick.

Saw them live at the Marquee as a support band in 1976.

Was a fan from then on and saw them numerous times across London.

Met Rick a couple of times when I was writing for South London fanzine Safe as Milk.

A soundtrack to my life so this is very sad news.

Never much of a fan, but I appreciate the influence and enjoyment they gave others. RIP Rick.

Remember seeing them on TotP when I was very young and thinking something along the lines of 'What's that racket?". Fortunately, as I got older, that racket became something I very much appreciated and I still listen to The Jam to this day. RIP Rick.

Loved the singles at the time back in the day but only recently listened to all the albums and realised what a great album band they were. Sound Affects is actually a tribute to the 1960s, something I never realised at the time. RIP Rick.
