Anyone on here know the dimensions of our pitch ?. Am looking at how many laps someone would need to do to complete a marathon.. got a potential idea to present to someone at the club for a Upbeats fund raiser.
The pitch at The Valley, measures 102 metres in length and 67 metres in width. This is equivalent to approximately 112 yards by 73 yards.
A marathon is 42.195 kilometers (26.2 miles).
If you're running laps around a pitch at The Valley (102m x 67m), the perimeter is:
(102 + 67) × 2 = 338 meters per lap.
To complete a marathon:
42,195 ÷ 338 ≈ 125 laps
So, you’d need to run approximately 125 laps around the pitch to complete a full marathon.
written like that, 125 laps of the pitch weirdly sounds 'doable'
26.2 miles doesn't
Ive enquired a few times about running London for Upbeats but the Trust have struggled to get places recently. Thought this could be the next best thing.
Going off on a slight tangent here but when I told my wife that football pitches aren't all the same size, it absolutely sent her off on one for some reason. That was about 19 years ago and she still hasn't got her head around it.

Five teams of five, doing a lap at a time, in relay, five times. That suddenly sounds very doable.
You could even stagger the start times for each relay (instead of waiting until the first lap is completed). That way you could give yourself a very good chance of "beating" the world record marathon time of just over two hours. And that would be very newsworthy!

A few years ago, (the season we went up under Bowyer) me and a couple of mates went to Plymouth away. Their stadium had an area of plastic grass around the pitch, like there is at The Valley, ostensibly for the "assistant referees" to run on.
However, the the pitch was marked a good yard inside that, on either side. Clearly, it had been deliberately marked up like that, to restrict our width. They duly won.
So, obviously, there must be a minimum size of pitch, and probably a maximum size, and the teams can choose which size they play on.

Did you have to admit it was your fault? 😉🙂
I do still think she blames me for it in some way.

Maybe you could explain that to @Rizzo's missus...🙄

Would take longer than normal too due to the turns. Going to email the club and see what the response is.

There is, apparently no pitch is allowed to be larger than the one at Wembley, but I’m not sure if that just a myth.

The pitch at the Etihad is bigger than the pitch at Wembley

Everything at The Etihad is big, including their ego...🙄
So going on that you could have a square 100 x 100 yards pitch.
No. From the FA Laws:-
The field of play must be rectangular and marked with continuous lines which must not be dangerous; artificial playing surface material may be used for the field markings on natural fields if it is not dangerous. These lines belong to the areas of which they are boundaries.
