The week after looks a bit tasty too with Hudds v Wycombe and Wrexham v Stockport - there's still a lot of football to be played til the end of the season so who knows all we can do is keep winning games and putting pressure on the teams above!
Part of our recent success is we smother the opposition. It happened again tonight, Barnsley couldn’t string anything together in the second half, they always had a Charlton player nipping at their ankles. Most of the danger came from their long throws. If we were more clinical we would’ve cruised it.

Can we sign their number 40 best player on the pitch by a country mile. Huffed and puffed and got over the line to a decent footballing side... In my view.

Keilor-Dunn won't be playing in League One next season, much too good.

Charlton did what was needed, they nullified Barnsley and won without breaking into a sweat which, with Stockport on Saturday, was what was needed, well planned and executed

Bizarre to think he's 27 and has mostly played for Mansfield, Burton and Oldham. The guy looks absolute quality.

He looked quality today. I checked his stats across the past few seasons and they are pretty incredible for a midfielder.
Thoroughly deserved win. All right their keeper should've got to the goal, but he had to make good saves later, and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we hit the post too? Sometimes 1-0 looks a bit meh, and maybe overall the game was more meh than thrilling, but rest assured this evening that humble 1-0 is massive for our season. We must now regroup, and face each game as a specific challenge with good management and good fortune with injuries and good squad utilisation. The final reel is being loaded onto the projector and we want a spectacular epic ending.
charlton are starting to interfere with my travelling but have managed to watch every match whilst away. I didn’t think I’ll get to watch the Barnsley match as I was on the salt lakes of Uyuni in Bolivia but arrived back early to catch the last 15 of the first half. I missed the goal but was concerned of Barnsley’s possession. But somehow I felt we would be stronger in the 2nd and we did. I don’t recall Barnsley getting close or anything on target nor was I worried about conceding as past times before.
I’m looking forward to the Stockport match and hopefully I’ll be able to watch it in Lima.
Think that was maybe our best win of the season, so far.
Barnsley were the best team technically I think I have seen at the Valley this season. Their touch, movement and passing were very good.
But we stopped them, got in their faces and took the game to them. This was no smash and grab but a deserved victory.
They had one real chance early on but after that they only had long range shots and one mix up from a long throw.
Make no mistake this was a big, big win and three more vital points.
Jones made a full set of subs and that might have been as much as giving the players who had run their socks off a rest as closing out the game. All the players put a huge shift in but shout out to TC who had two and sometimes three players on him but still caused problems and won the free kick for the goal.
Not a classic but don't think we ever looked like conceding. A bit of rest now before the next big game on Saturday. I can see why NJ likes Berry, he gets through a ton of work for an attacking midfielder and still gets on the end of chances. He's not exactly what you'd call a flair player but the current 3, with the option to bring on Anderson for his energy or Gilbert for his guile is a pretty good combination at this level.

Exactly.
Charlton still have to take care of their own results, irrespective of what other sides do. Win our own games, get the points in the bag, keep the momentum.
Knowing that other promotion chasing teams still have to play each other.
Anyone else think it's painful watching Chuks these days when he comes on?
He was only on for a few minutes. And is often trying too hard. But our record while he is on the pitch is outstanding and his strength scares opponents. I still want him on that pitch if we’re 1-0 down more than anyone else.
Surprised so many thought it was a poor game. I thought it was an interesting technical battle between two fairly even teams. Barnsley really impressed me the way they maintained shape and moved the ball first half, albeit without being particularly cutting in the final third thankfully. We looked a bit sluggish and ill disciplined with our passing and general ball retention. I think much of that was Barnsley were a level above what we’ve played at home recently.
second half I think we nullified much better and Miles really had the best chance of the game to make it an unnervy finish, but couldn’t find the net. Impressed how we saw out the added time, without needing to shit house.
A real punch the air job at the final whistle, felt a very important win that. Great atmosphere near the end.

Problem is he doesn't do any closing down giving our opponents carte Blanche to get the ball forward. He looks so cumbersome, no pace and I wouldn't trust him to come up with a goal if we needed one. Just my opinion.

Edit: been a bit optimistic with that stat on retrospect- there goes my career on Sky...
Crikey.

1st half they started strong, onto Saturday but we're looking good at the moment
