Brian James RIP

Wont be a familiar name to many, but I'm hearing that founder member and original lead guitarist of The Damned, Brian James has passed away.

One of my favourite bands of all time, glad I got to see him play with the original line up a few years ago.

RIP Brian

Saw the Damned many times. Also got to meet Brian James at the Nashville Rooms when he was in Tanz Der Youth. Great night with The Specials on the same bill.

Very sad, the Damned were one of my favourite bands of the punk era, saw Brian at their first (of many!) farewell gigs, back in 1978. There were rumours for years that their first album was speeded up in the studio, believe me if there was any tinkering then they slowed it down! A very fine musician.

    RIP

Never a big fan of the Damned but New Rose was a great song and the first Punk single.

Someone posted a pic on Facebook yesterday of that line up of the Damned back in the day, and one taken more recently, coincidence or did they know something? RIP

A peerless run of albums from 1977 - 82, James left after the first two, but he wrote most of the songs on those including New Rose and Neat Neat Neat, classic punk rock songs. RIP Brian.
