This site has been such a help in the past - now seeking further advice/assistance regarding my son who is home from uni.
With uni terms seemingly getting shorter and shorter my (currently 18 soon to be 19 yr old) son will be back from Sussex uni from the middle of April to September.

He is studying International Development and is bright if a little shy. He’s keen to get a job for the time he is back home so I’m reaching out to fellow lifers who may be able to help.
He’s open to all opportunities, particularly around Lewisham, Bromley, Beckenham.

It's brilliant that your son is proactively seeking employment during his university break. Their careers portal regularly updates with new vacancies.- Lidl Careers: Lidl frequently hires for store roles, offering competitive pay and benefits. Highlighting adaptability, teamwork and a willingness to learn can make applications stand out.Networking: Encourage him to connect with university career services, attend local job fairs, and join relevant LinkedIn groups. Personal connections can often lead to unadvertised opportunities.Early Applications: Many employers begin their recruitment processes months in advance. Starting applications early can increase the chances of securing a desirable position.Good luck to him.7

Can I recommend Falconwood Employment in Bromley (Near The Greyhound Wetherspoons)?
I used to use them when I was off in-between university and they always found me cracking little jobs in central London working in some really nice offices. It won't be your son's forever job but it'll be great for his CV. I ended up working in the London Stock Exchange for a bit through them, and up the Heron Tower.
They're incredibly old fashioned in their approach - I think a dad and his son run the day-to-day but they seem to be v well connected.6 -

Breaking up at Easter for the year? Does he/you still have to pay full fees?0 -

Ouch, I feel your pain... My son is 2nd year and in private rented...which means a 12 month contract...at least when he was in halls last year, it was pro-rated to term times.. And, because of when his current tenancy ends and his new one (different house) begins, I'll be renting two houses in Manchester for the month of July this summer....urgh.0
