  • RIP loved his F1 summary.
  • RIP Top man and wearer of the best wig in the business. (He actually had three of slightly different hair lengths, so it looked like his hair was growing and then being cut.)
  • RIP miss him on the F1 coverage.

He was always interesting to listen to and not afraid to say what he thought.  Was at the Belgian GP in 1991 when Schumacher had his first (and only I think) outing in a Jordan - seem to remember he broke down on the grid but had demonstrated his talent in qualifying.  RIP Eddie.
    RIP Eddie.

i wonder what would have happened to Jordan F1 if they hadn’t let Schumacher slip away and sign dor Benetton.

Schumacher qualified 7 in is his first outing in an F1 car, but the clutch on the Jordan gave out after about 500m in the actual race. At which point Benetton (Flavio Briatore)stepped in and said put your cross here Michael me lad!
It's also the race that Andrea deCesaris would have won, according to Ayrton Senna, whose V10 McLaren was largely coasting along on fumes in the final laps, while the Italian's Jordan was flying (only for the new version, to Jordan, Cosworth V8 engine to seize, because the oil reservoir hadn't been increased in size, with the latest Cosworth needing more).  If it hadn't been for the deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger in 1994, that would be my biggest F1 disappointment from that era.

If that had happened, I think Schumacher might have stayed (the 1991 Jordan was beautiful and very fast, but more low tech than a lot of the other F1 cars because EJ was doing things on a relative shoestring).

If I remember correctly, in their first season Jordan's sponsorship deal for the main sponsor (7Up) wasn't with Pepsico, but with national distributors.

One of the last real independent teams, at the end of an era when famous/infamous teams were beginning to be pushed out by ever increasing costs.

I have to say, I loved Jordan and EJ in the 90s.

    RIP
