I mean this bloke was genuinely next level even when we had him in the Championship and we had him in this shithouse league . Now this is who you turned up for , a genuine baller
My favourite player over the last 15 years to wear the shirt, and right up there with my favourite of all time.
A beast of a man who never gave up - warrior and legend. In the air he was virtually unbeatable, not just winning header after header but knowing exactly where BWP was (and Brad knew where Yann would put it of course). He isn't the tallest, but could he jump?
Certainly the best Charlton player since we fell out of the Prem.
100%. Our best finish since ‘07 was in that 12-13 season where Yann was undoubtedly the best player in the best team we’ve had the last 15 years.
Others in that team who played more than 15 league games: Solly, Morrison, Jackson, Pritchard, Hamer, Fuller, Cort, Dervite, Wilson, Stephens, Kerkar, Haynes, Wiggins, Wright-Phillips, Green, Hollands, Hulse

He was amazing in the air. I think because centre backs are typically tall they don’t (in L1 anyway) put huge amounts of thought into where they need to be to have the best chance of getting to the ball, they just assume their height will mean they win the header. 99% of the time that will work for them, but then they come up against Yann. His anticipation and positional awareness were so amazing that he would beat guys much taller than him almost every time.
One of the things I remember about Yann, was how good he was at opposition corners.
He almost always won his header, and then the ball would fly down the pitch like an Exocet, and go out for a throw in, somewhere near the half way line. None of that launch it out, and all stay in position, waiting for the ball to come flying back into our box, oh no!
And that free kick against Oxford is one of the best free kicks I've ever seen from a Charlton player. High praise, as he was in the same team as Jacko...
What an absolute joy is was to watch that man play. Had the rare ability to pass the ball with his head in open play, seen very few players who had that skill, cheat code doesn't even come into it. A complete travesty the way he was let go by the idiots running the club at the time.

Yann, I salute you sir !
This 100% - I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it better.

I loved watching that youtube compilation above with his goals, but I'd get far more joy from a compilation of Yann assists and hold up play. The man was as close to unplayable as I've seen in a Charlton shirt, especially in League One. His arrival turned us from a play off team to a 100 point title winning side

I think I remember this getting up past the 90s in the covered end, but my mind may be romanticising somewhat.
Lovely player, and I'm not even a lady.
