I'm not sure the comparison of players from clubs below and above is particularly informative. First of all, where's Godden gone? He is definitely a success. Where do you put Edwards - below or above us? Additionally, players who are not first-teamers for clubs above us are generally below/level with League One standard.
Considering how shite the Scottish prem is, I’d say the Scottish championship is firmly below league 1.

Maybe he does, but I would say that over recent seasons we have got better value for money buying players from clubs below us than from clubs above us. Successes and failures from both directions, but the failures from above have cost us a lot more.

    from clubs below us
    Ramsay big success
    Lloyd Jones big success
    Alfie May big success
    Mannion success
    Blackett-Taylor success
    Tennai Watson meh
    Payne partial failure
    Jayesimi failure
    Terry Taylor failure
    McGrandles failure

    from clubs above us
    Berry partial failure
    Terrell Thomas partial failure
    Hector failure
    Camara failure
    Fraser failure
    Abankwa failure
    Wickham failure
    Ladapo failure
    Edun failure
    Louie Watson failure
    Chem Campbell failure
    Tedic failure
    Bakinson failure
    Fiorini failure
    McIntyre failure
    Potts failure
    Allan Campbell failure
    Aneke total failure
    Ahadme disaster
    Kirk disaster
Sorry, guys, got interrupted and then f*ked this up. Somehow deleted the successes from from clubs above. Have been unable to edit ir delete it. So please ignore.
Stopped reading after seeing Berry as a partial failure.

    Berry a partial failure..? Really?
Don't want to discuss estimations of individual players which will inevitably vary. I just think my general point that we have not had much luck buying upmarket stands.

Kirk signed from below us didn't he?
Yes, he did, from Crewe. Sorry. Got in a muddle with the technology and started panicking. Ignore my post. I will go and lie down with a cold flannel on my brow.
It was a good effort, apart from getting most of it incorrect 😉

In what world is Aneke a total failure and Watson is meh, even more so, how is Berry a partial failure, the same as Payne and Terrel Thomas.
You are also missing a lot of players, from below Lavelle, Egbo, Clare, REG, Isted, Gilbey, Adahme, all failures, and players from above, Rak Sakyi, Coventry, Docherty, Small, Godden, Gilesphy, Dobson, all successes.

I mean that’s what it reads like when you put enough players in the failure section when they weren’t

A lot of them don’t help his argument that’s why

I'm told we stopped pursuing him prior to Preston coming in for him so I'd say that's incorrect.

    Is someone signing this afternoon?
Wouldn't expect any announcements/press releases from anywhere today after the tragic Jota news.
    Defender.
    May not be announced then.
Confirmed it will be announced tomorrow.

The world doesn't stop due to one horrific piece of news.
No, it doesn't and business will be carrying on as usual behind the scenes. However, it's basic PR to not pump out transfer news while the headlines will rightly be dominated by the loss of such a prominent star of the sport.
Would imagine they'd hold fire until tomorrow at least.

Given what Pav said at the weekend I’d assume it’s Burke

To be clear, I am not in the know as I don’t know who it is.
Just know we have signed a defender and it’s not Famewo.

Yeah Burke would tie in with what Pav said. Competition for Jones and Ramsay and probably means Alex Mitchell is unlikely to stay now.

Pav was spot on about Kaminski and based on what he was saying the cb was like Burke was the only one that makes sense. Personally think he would be a brilliant signing in his prime and just the 175 championship games and the 22 prem games. Will give Dr Abbott a hell of a job on his hands keeping him fit though

Fitness is my only concern , missed a good chunk of last season too with injury. I'm just scared he's another Dan Potts. Cracking player if he can be kept fit but it's an massive IF

Burke makes sense from what was described but it’s not obvious where he fits in if he’s going to be a regular starter. I don’t like the idea of Ramsay moving to RWB, I think we need more attacking threat on that side if we’re sticking with Edwards at LWB.

We do need another LWB though, and it’ll be interesting to see if we go for a similar player to Edwards or someone more attacking.

Hopefully he’s not a replacement for Ramsay being sold.

I know we need depth, but I can’t imagine Burke coming in on a decent wage to be back up for our two best players last season in Ramsay and Jones.

We do have to remember that in a lot of games this season we will be setting up for a point, playing burke at RCB and Ramsey at RWB makes us far more solid especially away from home.

I’m not being funny but Ramsay was class at RWB before he got injured! Small just offered a completely different way of playing that role, as would any left footed player playing on the right.

Don’t think anyone’s saying he isn’t good at RWB just that he’s even better at RCB
