The thing on Fofana is, that he’s been out with a nasty injury for the best part of 6 months, and if the clubs didn’t have time to do its due diligence on the injury and recovery, then so be it. If that’s the reason, then fine.
If the Fofana reports were true, what happened to Preston’s effort? Eh?
I smell grift.
Yes, always sounded like agent talk or more likely Chelsea trying to generate interest.
A few Chelsea sites saying Charlton didn't get the deal done in time but that makes a better story and deflects the blame than saying it was never close.
Who knows what the truth is other than to always rely on the six magic words.
Chelsea cocked up a sale of £22m so I think we can guess where the blame lies. To be a little fair to them, they probably saw it as a minor move and with Preston and then Celtic getting involved, and then the player rejecting a move there it became quite complicated in a short space of time. The experienced staff were probably needed on the sale that failed and this one needed more attention than they were prepared or able to give.
Please don’t automatically pile blame on anyone at Charlton. I genuinely don’t think we had as much time to get this done as everyone thinks. Also wouldn’t doubt for a second that Chelsea drug their feet

Thought Fulham pulled out of the George deal because interest in Harry Wilson never materialised?
Realistically Mbick wasn’t going to get the game time. However, it feels like this may have been slightly premature before we were certain that Fofana was in the building
Mbick shouldn't be anywhere near the 1st team at the moment, A loan is perfect for his development. He needs regular mens football to learn and expand his game.

Wilson was supposed to be going to Leeds but that fell apart

Mbick either way belongs nowhere near a championship squad currently. Glad he's been loaned out.
Why the loan market wasn't given another day I'll never know? Nothing moves until the clubs at the very top of the tree stop waving their dicks about and that went on late into the window. Left Everyone else frantically scratching around once they finished.

I agree, all I’m saying is if we shipped out one striker even an inexperienced one on the assumption that fofana was coming in, has that left us short?

All that would happen is the top clubs would pivot to loan deals with obligations to buy next season. The actual solution is close the EFL window the day the after the PL

I don't believe so, even if Godden is out for a while, Tanto, Miles, TC and Kelman should be plenty. Mbick wouldn't have got a look in

We still have plenty of numbers in forward areas. Mbick shouldn't be anywhere near the 1st team at this moment anyway.
Harvey Knibbs would be an emergency striker before Mbick was needed.
Strange one this no real comment from Charlton it seems to be all Chelsea and his agent , not sure it was ever a goer from our end … especially when Bree deal was done NJ said that was it ,… personally we have the strikers , the most important deal was a RWB and we got a real quality one …. Excellent window for the club now NJ can get to work on what already been a very good start to the season .. now time to take the next step
Why would there be any comment from us? - Fofana's not our player, so we don't speak about him
It tends to be the one rule between clubs, you don't talk about a player specifically until you've signed him.
Yeah, but you’d have thought they’d have let Ronnie know…😉
As I understand it they notify the Plymouth Heralds equivalent of Richard Cawley who then gets on the hotline to Ronnie
The Athletics obsession with Wrexham led me to cancel, which was a shame as the NFL coverage is great, lucky I got a freebie via Sky, so I can leave snarky little comments on these types of posts

Their championship coverage used to be really good , now it just seems to be Wrexham watch and no one else in the league is worth covering.
Subscribed since launch but am seriously considering ditching it.

I thought he'd have been a Southampton fan rather than a Wolves fan
