Was Rich Cawley hinting we may go for Begovich again now Everton have released him ?

Maybe L1 was too big a step down for him.
We just couldn’t match his wage demands at the time. Only getting older and just been sat collecting a wage for the last year not what we should be going for

Christian Walton is an interesting suggestion keeper wise.

Apparently Charlton are moving the goalposts and that’s why Jones isn’t going to Cardiff but he definitely wanted to go, trust me.

Give it a rest .. it was all in some kids head in his bedroom in Cardiff who started this by posting on instagram … the only goalposts being moved are those on the training pitch so the grass can be cut
    Ronnie has upped his game.

Or Sinisalo, who hasn’t played much for Celtic?

Yeah Walton a great shout... weren't we after him when he went to Ipswich?

They also still have Scott Bain as cover. Maybe they would consider loaning him.

When we were snifing around him last season we were asked by a coach at QPR why the hell we were interested.  Even QPR acknowledged Begovic was on a downward spiral, and a year later, that won't have improved.
Says the club who bought McAuley Bonne from us

We had a tiny budget last year & I can only see free transfer’s this window. It’s going to be tough but we have the right manager in place.

We didn’t only sign free transfers last summer with fees paid for Ahadme, Godden, Mitchell, Edwards and Dixon, I don’t think the situation is as bad as that. There’s a big increase in TV money at this level too.

Ahadme was May’s money & a little more & £450,000 for the rest. As per Methven! Unless we sell can’t see a big outlay.

He would still be quicker than Berry and Docherty.

You have the wrong guy. This one is 23 and plays for Albacete.

There will be a larger amount of money coming in thanks to receiving a bigger share of the EFL TV deal. There’s also the possibility that the ownership are willing to loosen the purse strings a little bit more now we are up a level.

Maybe I’m talking bollocks and you’re right but I haven’t seen firm evidence that we are definitely approaching the summer window this way or that way yet.

That’s the problem, no one knows how much our budget is and people are just guessing or hypothesising at the moment. We won’t be able to judge until the window closes although the first couple of signings might give an indication of the direction of travel.

We barely spent much in today’s market place last season and got promoted. I’m not complaining! The extra tv revenue will probably go on wages and I’m sure we’ll have the lowest transfer budget in the league but in Jones we trust.

As much as I love these discussions - I think our business will be done subtly and will surprise us  like last summer.  Not sure there will be many rumours going around.  Wouldn't be shocked if we sign championship / premiership / foreign league players rather than the league one players we've been mentioning and know of

Who was the Hungarian(?) midfielder we looked at last summer and didn't proceed with? I guess given Scott is gone that is done with now but maybe we will take another look at him if he was a Jones target..?

If you think our budget was 'Tiny', you must be well minted.  B)

That was him.  23yrs old. 12 months left on his contract. Played 32 games in Hungarian top division for team that finishes 5th. 5 international caps.  Defensive midfielder.  Last linked with Minnesota United.  Probably not on our radar anymore but you never know.

4th or 5th biggest budget in the division last season.

Fees are not the only element of the playing budget, there are also wages.

Will we have to spend more on both to survive in the championship? Absolutely but we were one of the bigger spenders in league one and punched our weight by finishing 4th.

Not sure if he is any good still, but I see Malik Wilks has left Sheff Wed, would be good for TC to have some competition.

If we end up moving to Yorkshire then this could be on

He’s certainly been effective throughout his career, although I think mainly for league one teams

I also think he’s never had a club outside Yorkshire, plus possibly on the way down in terms of how effective he can be

It’s going to be a big ask, but I would hope we’re signing players that potentially position the current starting 11-14 as the ‘squad players’, rather than cover for x or competition for x.  Ie if we sign someone in TC’s position, he’s better than TC

I’m not saying he needs replacing as he’s certainly earned his shot at stepping up, as have some of the others, I just hope the philosophy is better additions first, cover later
