Charlie Methven - before, during, after

A thread pertaining to all things Charlie has been removed due to a derailment. He has been a significant figure in Charlton's recent history, and i wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to still have a thread to capture any ongoing news about him etc...Admin please remove if not helpful.

I heard that before Charlton he had a job oopt'north where he honed his instinct for retailing a special brand of football corporate horseshit. While never quite on top of the detail he could identify key issues relating to football and talk convincingly on them for some time but the actual implementation of them rather than the sale of the idea was beyond him.

The north tiring of him and he lost his well payed snout bucket role and looked for opportunities for him and his similarly fleece minded chums. Identifying a club with similar issues he set about spinning an unachievable set of numbers to some business people from across the pond.

Initially taken in by his polished patter, money was handed about and he started to trough on in a similar vein to exploits oop'tnorth. 

As he anticipated, people who had accumulated money through successful business endeavours did find out that there was little bottom in his trousers and he was moved along from his current trough, which had been adequate enough for his midest expenses given the expense budget he had also given himself.

He'd always fancied a role in the carribean for a few years before returning to the UK with a new contact list and some expensive role at perhaps a football quango, representing the Caribbean Football Association in the UK would do although  a FIFA role would be ideal. 

There's always another trough out there and Charlie had learned the lesson of the emperor's new clothes at his nanny's knee. The way he saw it, the more you get paid for doing nothing, the more embarrassing it is for those who paid you to admit their mistake and the more you get paid to fuck off. 

Happy days, job done and onto the next project. Football doesn't rescue itself you know.
