When will we save a penalty?

It just seems along, long time since our keeper saved a penalty. Was one saved in the penalty shoot out vs Brighton  couple of seasons ago? or was it a miss?
Better get some practice in if we make the play-offs, could be semi's or final shoot out.

Sorry we have made the play-offs. Draws are likely in tight games...

Maynard-Brewer saved the final Brighton penalty (9:23)

IN FULL | Charlton v Brighton & Hove Albion penalty shootout (December 2022)

Not sure if there has been one saved since, do we even give many away?

But just means its setup beautiful so if we're winning 1-0 next Saturday, meaning we're set to go into second, and Wrexham get their customary jammy decision of a penalty that gets saved in the 100th minute.

Thought Mannion could've better anticipated where Friday's pen was going. Looked obvious from the angle of the run up that it would go to the keeper's right.

At Wembley Tom McIntyre will dive to his left to save the final Wrexham penalty and send us up...
What makes you think McIntyre will be in goal?

Who said anything about McIntyre being the goalkeeper?

Ilic only saved one penalty in the 98 final.  One was enough.

Indeed. He was clearly practising his keeping skills on Friday.

Great thread - spoke about this to mates on Saturday as we never get near saving a pen. Mannion seems to move way too early - be better off not moving until the ball is kicked as a fair proportion of pen takers go down the middle. Would hope that Henderson works with our keepers on this ASAP

Wasnt 2014-15 the season where we scored every penalty we were awarded and saved every penalty faced?

Anyone got our stats for the amount of penalty shoot outs we have had in the play off

I can recall two in the semi (lost one, won one) and that famous final one. Have there been anymore?

Last keeper we had that actually seemed to work on trying to save pens was Phillips. Mannion doesn’t seem to have a clue..

To me Mannion goes too early and penalty taker can put it the opposite way. He needs to hold his ground just a little longer.

Lets hope  Maynard Brewer is fit enough for possible play off penalty shoot out.

I remember Nicky Johns saving one.

    Hope that helps.

Neither of our keepers are very intimidating, both seem a bit meek when facing a penalty, rather than dominating the moment.

That's horrendous percentage for AMB and Mannion, 1 saved out of 33 between them.

7 saved out of 44 seems not too bad in comparison for Bouzanis, although below average.

From a very quick Google scoring rate of pens in the EFL is about 73% apparently.

Mannion and AMB may be crap at saving penalties but both have contributed to the 19 clean sheets in 24/25 so far.
Mannion is calmer than AMB and I see more mistakes from Premier keepers than Will Mannion has made this season.

Crazy Ben Hamer made one of the best penalty saves I can remember against Leeds and the save by Saha Ilic from the 'back pass' penalty by Michael Gray, one of the most important.

Ha! blokes who have never played in goal at any level - including in their daydreams - giving 'advice' about how to save a penalty.
Shut up fools, you have no idea...
