Burton game tickets handling charge

I’ve just purchased a ticket for my grandson for the Burton match. A slight irritation for me is the so called handling charge of £2.50. I’d rather they advertise the price at £8.50 rather than £6.00. It’s not a lot of money I know, but just be up front with people so they know what the true cost is. It’s still good value in my opinion but I don’t like all the add ons you seem to have to work out these days. It smacks of bloody Ryan Air & Easy Jet! Call me old fashioned but I like one up front cost end of story.

I agree with @WestStandPete . It does seem a bit of a cheek. What “handling” are they doing? The club encourage us to bring friends and family members with us, and I’ve done that on numerous occasions this season, paying £32 for adult tickets in the AC stand, which becomes £33.50 with the so called “handling” charge. No tickets are sent by post as I either print or download the tickets. So they haven’t “handled” anything.

Well they can call it purchase fee if it would make anyone feel better.
It doesn't matter what it's called.
It was introduced to help recover the cost of the system installation under Meire.3 -

I'm a ST holder but occasionally bring my daughter - as it won't let you buy a single child ticket online I have to ring up each time and purchase the ticket that way.
For the Northampton game I was charged no booking fee and received the ticket via email. Did exactly the same again for the Burton game and there was a £2.50 booking fee which I queried to no avail...

I thought it was £1.50? Has it recently gone up?0

If the stewards were doing their job, then you would not have the inconvenience. Crazy that you cannot buy a concession online.

I've bought three tickets and the booking fee was £1.50 the same as it has been for the rest of the season.4

I had to move across from block F in the Curbs stand to the more expensive block E to fit in a guest against Northampton. I didn't get charged for the upgrade on my ticket or the £1.50 booking fee for my guest.0

I guess its got potential to be a bumper gate so they want to milk it, sets the precedence for the play off matches if we end up there.0

It's more surprising when buying tickets for something and it doesn't have an added handling/booking fee.Adding it to the original ticket price as suggested doesn't make sense, as it depends on how many tickets you're purchasing. One ticket and you'd pay an extra £1.50 for that seat, but buy three tickets at same time, and the seat would only be 50p more.2

It's £1.50 for a website booking and £2.50 for a phone booking. There's no fee for buying a ticket from the ticket office.
I have been told that this is the fault of the company that handles their booking system. Apparently the club is under contract with them for several years and they can't get out of it.4 -
If it’s still £1.50 then they have put up the fee for the Burton game as I was charged £2.50.1

I'm not happy with the charges, so please don't take it that I am.

If I'm having the ticket posted to me, £1.50 isn't unreasonable considering the price of postage these days.
A bit odd that the fee isn't waived for e-tickets.2 -
They usually apply a handling fee of £2 when I get my 10yr old a ticket. However, I called up a couple of weeks ago to get two kids tickets for burton and the fella only charged me the ticket price. £12 for the pair. Maybe it depends who you get on the phone!
Edit. I kinda get charging a small fee if you're speaking to a human being at the ticket office. They need to pay the wages afterall. What annoys me is that I've booked a print at home ticket online before and still been charged a fee, even after doing all the work for them lol0 -
Yeah it's completely different every time. Last week I paid £1 for a child ticket, no fee delivered via email. For the Burton game I bought exactly the same seat (child ticket, delivered via email) and got charged £6+£2.50 so seems they just make it up as they go along.
£2.50 to deliver a child ticket via email is a piss take, especially when the system won't let me do it online so I have no choice but to call the ticket office.0
