L1 Team of the Season

  • Fantastic achievement for Jones! Fully deserved, we are worse off without him in the starting 11. Integral to our success. POTY

    Kone really ?????
He's been rubbish for the past month, but these awards are probably voted for in early-mid March so it's no surprise to see him there.

Wonder if any of those players could be realistic transfer targets for us this summer? Tickle maybe?

Maybe if we get promoted but otherwise not a chance we will try to sign any of these.

    No Stansfield  ???  I mean, what's the point in paying £15m 😉.

Tickle was linked with Arsenal as a back up goalie, I'd say no chance there, unless we go up.

Same as a lot of these. Keillor-Dunn and Bate might be attainable with a promotion.

That team of the season is a load of crap. They go too early. A player who has played half the games (Poku*) should not make team of the season.

Paudie O'Connor should have probably made the team. Ranked 2nd overrall on whoscored and fotmob ranked 7th. Played over 38 games.

Lewis Wing is one of the best mids in this league. Don't see how Bate got ahead, Wing rated higher on every data site I think? (The popular ones)

Finally Kelman, how he's not made the list is a joke. League top scorer with 21, 25 g&a combined.

My Mansfield mate was asking me at the start of the season, why didn’t we sign Kellor Dunne.

I said we don’t need him, we have an extensive recruitment system, with a first class head of recruitment, that had secured among others, Gassan you had me on a 4 year contract.

    I agree.
Has had a fantastic season since coming out of the Essex league and looked very sharp when coming on at the Valley when he was only sub for some strange reason. Luton had a bid turned down and I will be amazed if Kone is still at WW next season.
Goals have dried up but he could find his form in the playoffs.

I do appreciate when the vote is but Nathan Lowe, who was named League 2 Young Player Of The Season was recalled by Stoke and played his last of 22 appearances for Walsall on 11th January. I want to know who got the vote for the second half of the season. Perhaps Laurent Tolaj of Port Vale who has 12 goals and 4 assists in his last 19 matches? I would say that, with an overall record of 14 goals and 8 assists Tolaj has been pretty instrumental in getting Port Vale promoted as opposed to Lowe who was great during his time at Walsall but they might now not even go up. I suppose it would be a bit like Conor Gallagher getting the same award for being half a season with us.

Due to the vote cutoff, the Championship team of the season looks a bit weird too, with 2 attacking Norwich players in it. Both Sargent and Sainz have been good, but Norwich are now 14th having since March won just 1 game out of 11!

    Hmm.

Manager spends a f***ing fortune and walks the league. Manager of the year material? Really?!

With the amount Brum have spent, winning the title was the bare minimum for a pass this season.

In my opinion Richie Wellens should have got the award for what he's done with Orient this year.

Argument for Challinor too but a record points total was always going to win it for Davies.

Whoscored team of the season - includes Jones and Ramsay (at RWB) and no Birmingham players.

Also two ex players in O’Connell and Morgan.

2 teams of the season with very few players in both .. Sky's selection Albie Morgan, O'Connell, might be ex Addicks, BUT they're surely avin a larf .. and no Hills of Stockport (not a geographical feature), a 20 year old monster central defender on loan from Norwich ?
However both agree on Lloyd our very own monster defender
