Quiz - British Players to have played for overseas clubs in European Cup/Champions League finals

Just been reading the Lewis report on the state of youth development in England.

It makes the point that only 7 British players have played for overseas clubs in a European cup or Champions league final.

Can you name them? If you google it you are only cheating yourself : - )

Paul Lambert at Dortmund in 1997, ledge. All those years of taking the Rothmans on holiday paying off now :-)

McMananaman, Hargraves and Keegan are all correct. Not Collins, Wilkins or Greaves.

Not for Sheff Wed it wouldn't be. What was that question they wouldn't let us have?
  • There are wider issues than simply the quality of our players if you are using the Euro cups (foreign teams) as a gauge. Firstly, the health (financially at least) of our game over here combined with a likely attitude that many British people want to remain in Britain to ply their trade. Our players are also overpriced so that makes it quite prohibitive to overseas clubs looking to invest in potential greatness/prime players unless affected positively by the "Bosman" rule.

True but the financial arguement did not apply in the 70s and 80s and only in the later parts of the 90s.

With Bosman you would expect to see more British players moving abroad but this does not seem to be the case.
