  • Our group have managed to secure our season ticket seats for the Wycombe home game but frankly what a mess it has been.
I initially tried to buy 4 our of our 5 season tickets seats in our F&F group but I kept hitting a payment gateway issues which I assume is due to the payment gateway failing to handle multiple factor authentication properly. I tried a different card - same issue.  One of group then tried in my place and payment worked without a hitch.
That still left 1 24/25 season ticket holder where none of us (the individual included) could select and purchase their ST seat.  They haven't renewed for 25/26 and is the only obvious difference between the other 4 in our group.  So no alternative but to sit for 90 minutes waiting on the phone line (no added time thankfully 😀) to get his seat before the 11am deadline tomorrow.
So we finally managed to secure the 1 missing ticket.  The young lady on the phone line whilst helpful in booking the ticket could only offer a "heavy demand" on the website as a potential reason for the various issues.  I hope "somebody" who has a level of oversight for ticketing (assuming they exist) could look at this as not just a heavy demand issue but try to see that the system and processes are failing and needs root level review.
Simply put taking 3 days on and off to secure 5 ST seats plus a few extras for a one off game is not a great look for any company operating in today's world.  The current system is simply not fit for purpose, or at least when demand increases and turnaround time-frames are limited but in reality any customer facing system has to be robust enough to handle peak demand volumes.
Give me a 3 hour queue in the rain as we did in 1998 any day and that's coming from somebody who has spent the last 30 years working in technology!
  • Click here to pick up your 2024/25 season ticket seat.

This is the only place I am seeing the word 'here' to click on which is under the Charlton v Wycombe home playoff.

I then follow what is offering me a season ticket or match day ticket so I follow the match ticket and get nowhere. The add to basket or proceed gets me nothing.

Sorry if I am missing the point but looked at the example @aliwbble posted but I don't get the alert message shown on that example.
Basically it is looping round from clicking the matchday ticket for the Wycombe game.
  • What will be available tomorrow will be the season tickets of those who:

    a) cannot attend or
    b) who wanted a different seat to be with friends/family who they could not buy for nearby their seat.

There are sections of the ground where there are no spare seats as they are all ST seats. If you have a ST in one of these areas, you may move somewhere else to sit with family, friends etc. (b)

Hopefully everyone who wanted to be in their ST seat will be back there by tomorrow.
Plus, the majority available tomorrow will be S/T holder seats UNABLE to buy their usual seats, so felt obliged to buy elsewhere.

Must admit Charlton have definitely lost the plot on play off tickets. Spoke with ticket office who told me they didn’t expect the response to ticket sales. I told her wait for it—- if that’s your answer none of you should be working for CAFC and that is a piss poor excuse. With that I told her I have no faith in you getting my tickets to me although my monies been taken. Also told her I won’t be renewing my season ticket untill this is sorted out. A lot of angry people will be turning up to the valley next week. Also today my mate told me  who’s not a season ticket holder and got tickets yesterday 4 of them he has had his email and tickets and printed off. I have no faith hopefully mine will turn up. Scandalous what’s going on. They should hang their heads in shame.
Having had a very poor experience in buying for the home game (got there in the end), I agree that Charlton have done a very poor job on this.

However, as said above I think you have used your frustration/anger in the wrong direction as the poor, lowly paid ticket office staff won't be the cause of this.

Send an email/letter to Carter/Rodwell I guess to express your dissatisfaction, the heads of team need to learn from the errors made for future.
Agreed. The ownership now have clear evidence that the potential of the club is still alive and kicking. An adequately designed and tested ticket system is surely a worthwhile investment, and they must be in listening mode.

Us lot on here persevere with a weak ticket system with unclear direction. Would-be or marginal punters are less likely to persevere, and are being lost possibly forever.

I'm sure any correspondence to the appropriate people at the club - something constructive or a rant if need be - will all help make the point.
I don’t think the ticketing system is the issue. There have been some questionable management decisions and inadequate user instructions, but the system seems to have done its job.
Not working on one of the worlds most popular web browsers is a pretty poor characteristic.
I didn’t have any browser issues so can’t comment on that, but it’s essentially an interface problem. The back end seems to have coped fine to me.

Clearly the club didn’t anticipate the demand fully and it didn’t seem to have thought much about the user experience, but these are management not software issues.
     And cost.
As AFKA said. It wasn't just the chrome debacle. When I looked in a different browser , sections were showing one minute. Gone the next. When I did have the wrong item in my basket I couldn't remove it. When I tried to log in throughout the afternoon and evening I was locked out.
Management yes. But I suppose if developers tell you one thing and the final product doesn't live up to what you were sold that's another issue.
A decent interface system would cost a fair chunk of change to implement and maintain.
  • I remember when Billy Smart’s Circus used to roll into Blackheath with all the clowns and animals — well, now we know where the clowns ended up… running the Charlton ticket office!

Honestly, all I wanted to do was buy my season ticket seat for the play-offs. Simple, right? Apparently not. I logged on at 11am on Sunday, full of hope and caffeine, only to be met with a system more confusing than VAR. Couldn’t access my season ticket seat, couldn’t navigate the site, and had to wonder — am I the clown here for expecting this to work?

Surely, in this day and age, it should be as easy as entering your ID, password, clicking your seat, and paying. Done. Instead, we got a digital obstacle course and radio silence from the box office phones — despite being told the lines were staffed.

And let’s not forget, they had a whole week to prepare! A week! You’d think they might’ve predicted a bit of a stampede for tickets — it’s the play-offs, not a Tuesday in February.

Why weren’t they open Sunday and Monday, with all hands on deck? Missed calls, missing seats, and missing the point.

Nathan’s circus has officially pitched its big top in SE7 — and if he’s got any spare red noses and oversized shoes, I’ve got a few staffing suggestions.

StrikerFirmani like you, I didn't have a ST this season but bought a 2025/2026 on Saturday evening. I then got the email confirming I could buy a play off ticket as a ST holder. I went into my account on Sunday & was able to buy my ST seat & one other ticket. However, I did not have to click on the "here" tab & my seat wasn't greyed out. I'm now wondering if by buying on Saturday, it was too late to update my seat to a ST on the system & I was just lucky that it was available & hadn't already been bought by someone. This might explain your situation, just a thought.

Sort of issue it might be worth raising at the CAST Q&A with Gavin Carter? @Pico
‘We certainly have some lessons to learn from the exercise but overall the system worked well enough and it seems those that wanted tickets were able to get them. The ticket office staff worked very hard. It’s great to see the demand  is there…’

Expecting much different to be said? 😉
  • about 11 tickets left in the NWC as the 16-20 zone... only £10!

Of course not at this stage.  As long as the proper lessons are learned.  They need to keep asking why until they get to to the real reason.  In my experience, normally boils down to either an individual human error or more likely a lack of investment somewhere.  Important thing is to find out where; staff numbers? internet bandwidth? testing? communication?  Just throwing money in the wrong direction will probably just make matters worse next time

So how come if you have a ST you can't buy your ticket because it is sold out. Yet they are supposed to be holding your seat till Wednesday ?
    Edited as already been discussed.

The ticketing system was definitely an issue, not the whole issue but definitely an issue.
There were tens of different issues reported by tens of different people.
The vast majority did have browser issues.
Few could purchase their S/T seats until someone on CL worked out that you could purchase on safari and little success elsewhere.

Management decisions always affect software decisions, be it spend on product, testing, browser compatibility.

The club isn’t responsible for the software, it’s someone else’s tech, just doesn’t seem to have been upgraded by the club
  • Google released new versions of chrome during the last week for various operating systems. This might have affected people using the chrome browser

Where do I start.... 11am sunday tried to buy me and my sons season tickets (family stand) along with a couple of extra seats for a friend and her son. Finally, I got on the site at 11.30. Like most others on here, it wasn't clear at all how to get your season tickets, so I thought that's ok I will get 4 together in the east stand. Was lucky to get 4 halfway up the east stand block E.
Went through to payment and put in all the details., the it says 'payment failed try again' at exactly the same time I had a notification from my bank to say the payment HAD been taken from my account.

So I had no ticket reference and £95 less in my account.

I was getting a bit worried when I saw tickets going like hot cakes, so I tried calling the club to find out if I did have the tickets. Obviously couldn't get through despite trying for the whole day. So I emailed them telling them what had happened.

So yesterday I tried calling again and again couldn't get through, then had a brainwave! why don't I use the newly gleened information from CL and buy my season tickets. Logged on and got them in minutes. (Not had email confirmation yet) but they do appear in my ticket area online.

Got a reply to the email I sent on Sunday today saying sorry they haven't emailed the tickets, If I haven't received them by 9th to contact them again.

I have a feeling that I'm not getting the 4 east stand tickets, and felt really bad for my friend and her son possibly not having a ticket at all if we don't get them.

So I logged on the charlton site about an hour ago and kept refreshing the page desperate to get 2 tickets and low and behold 2 tickets together appeared in north upper, put them in the basket and went through to payment... again 'payment failed try again' I thought I'm not having that and tried again!

Success!!! the payment went through and almost instantly got an email with the tickets. 2 minutes later had notification from the bank.... wait for it..... they took the payment twice!

In summary I may have 8 tickets but only need 4 and have paid for 10!

It seems that he website for booking anything is a shambles and not just for this event.

My wife had so many problems August last year trying to book the Alan Curbishley suite that she ended up going down there to book it.

I had so many problems in october trying to book for my son to be mascot I ended up going down there to book it.

Also had problems trying to buy tickets to the 1905 lounge and ended up calling them to sort it all out.

I initially had problems renewing our season tickets and nearly gave up and went down there, but persevered and got there un the end.

But the ticketing system is not the issue!

It is. The website is a bit Thomas Sandgaard, and he was a bit shite. Like a creepy uncle.
Need to get it premiership ready. Waiting for latest lot to stand up.
We do need to be better as fans though. Keep calm and book the right ticket and seat

I haven't had a ST for the past 2 seasons & so manually select a seat in the AC stand when I decide I'm going to.attend & pay accordingly.

Never had an issue at all re payment & e mail follows 5 or 10 mins later with ticket attached (I print from home).

I'm hoping the glitches from the past few days have been ironed out as I'm planning on buying my ticket tomorrow once the unclaimed ST seats become available. I also use Chrome.

  • Just want to post a positive friendly message to all those who don't yet have tickets for home leg. Am confident most, if not all, of you will get what you need when those STs are released tomorrow.

Keep the faith. All will be well.

Do we have any idea roughly how many will be made available?

Because you couldn’t, not open to purchase tickets

I hope you’re right but as said by others, not everyone is in jobs where they can become available to spend time online at 11am. Teachers can’t just leave classroom’s, train and bus drivers can’t just pull over for half hour etc

Hope every proper fan gets sorted. I know ST holders who have still not got tickets due to system issues
  • I had three in block R three came up together in WSC at lunchtime today. Bought them and ticket office did a refund for the others.
    Really straight forward.
Tickets have been popping up all day periodically
  • If someone has a 25/26 ST ticket only, then I can't see how they can reserve "their seat" for the Wycombe game, as they don't have it yet?
I'd presume you can't buy another ST holders seat until the season has ended... so any new STs are available seats.

    Apologies, you've been whooshed.
  • Beware. There are still issues with the ticket site.
I just had a look at tickets for the North v South game

Seats vanished as per the other day. This was on Opera browser.
