Directions to High Wycombe from The M1 coming South from The East Midlands?

Looking at a road atlas it’s somewhat confusing.
Do I come down to the M25 and take The M40 or branch off somewhere earlier and go cross country?

  • You could come down the A42/M42 to reach the other end of the M40?

You aren’t actually using an actual, physical, atlas are you?!
That brings back memories of family road trips around UK in early 90s

No, I have a satnav of course.
I’m just studying some possible routes.

I normally turn off the M1 at Northampton J15A and take the A43 to the M40, then just follow it to HW.

Depends where you're starting from in the East Midlands, I use M69, A46, M40

    An atlas ? 😂😂😂
  • I'm just about to buy an old school printed road map.

Twice in the last two weeks I've come to closed roads with no diversions in place, and which aren't picking up on car sat-nav of google maps. Trying to work an alternative route on a sat nav is nigh on impossible.
  • What's a road atlas?

I’m surprised some people get out of bed in the morning without coming on here and asking how to do it !!
When they are 78 years old you might like to work that out and then realise why pal.🤨

Ha, I’m only winding you up. Last time I saw an actual atlas was in my parents car when I was a kid, must me about 25 years ago now!

Yes, but some of our fans (not SoundAs) are coming to The Valley for the first time in over 25 years).
  • Don't have a satnav, I always use maps. Riding motorcycles means that I want to work out the most scenic route, not the quickest.
  • I have a London A to Z which I sometimes consult.

Delays on a43 around Silverstone due to hs2 works and a new roundabout. Further down on joining the M40 there’s usually queues also to factor in - I may go via Milton Keynes and cross down to Wycombe from there on Sunday
  • I would always get on the M40 as soon as possible.

The m1 sucks at virtually all times of the day even now the works making the road smarter by adding little stretches of hard shoulder back are done.

The M40 is still a decent road and you mostly get a good run down to high wycombe.

Out of the four different routes that seem possible this is the one I have chosen……USING MY FUCKING SATNAV.👊
