Time for my own bah humbug moment.

This is all a bit of a nonsense.

This isn't a meaningless end of season game where there's space for this.

It feels like it's becoming a bit of a "celebration" - almost a party atmosphere.

We haven't done anything yet. Keep the legends for the first game back in The Championship if we win the next two games.

If WW need anything to gee them up, just tell them that we are already celebrating.
I was thinking the same thing, just like NJ talking about the circus at Wrexham, that worked out well didn't it.

It's going to be another very tough game, Wycombe weren't second for a long time because they're shit The new guy might have them playing a different way but they still have some decent players & they're not just going to roll over. If they snatch an early goal we could be in trouble. (hopefully they won't of course  :D)

I was at all 3 ‘87 play off matches - Elland Road was scary, but leaving St Andrew’s is easily the most frightened at a football match, closely followed by Battle of the Bridge in ‘88

Battle of The Bridge you are having a laugh, one of the best turn outs I have ever seen from Charlton never felt frightened at all.

Think it’s good idea to encourage people into the ground early and into their seats. The only motivation that both Wycombe and Charlton need is that if they win they will get a chance to be at Wembley. Everything else is just background noise IMO.

West stand concourse is usually rammo when the stand is 20% full so will be chaos when full tomorrow. So I will be happy to get my seat early and give these legends a good clap before the game.

    Stupid planning it for 7.15pm.
I'll be surprised if there's 5,000 in their seats by then.
7.30pm earliest would have been more sensible and encourage fans to be in by then.
Depends what else they are planning if anything?

If they are planning something else maybe they should choose which one is more important, personally I think it's almost an insult to "pay tribute" to our former heroes when the ground will be practically empty.
Unless they are saying 7.15pm to get more in early.
But they won't come out to 7.30pm earliest.
Agreed - that's why they're shutting the bars at 7.30, otherwise you'll never get Colin Walsh on the pitch

Probably a stupid question and I am sure I know the answer, but, if I want to applaud these legends from my seat, can I take my beer ?

If you can, my advice would be to put the beer down before applauding, as otherwise it's highly likely that the coming together of your hands in the act itself would cause you to spill some of the beer.

At Elland Road they were throwing 2p coins at us with sharpened edges!

They must have had a pay rise.

The playoff final replay in 1987 was the last football match before Peter Sullivan was convicted

Got a sneak preview of the running order.

    Light show
    Kiss cam
Re-enacted sword fight with the Addick sword victorious
Jamie Cullen singing a jazz version of VFR
Choreographed Mexican Wave conducted by special guest Sergio Perez
Prodigy starting an actual pitch side fire
Artistic but dramatic fly past from Woolwich Pigeon and friends

How could you forget the planned arrival of the enormous "celebration " cake being wheeled onto the pitch, followed by a drum roll ....

...with Arsenetatters & Fanny leaping out !!!  Surprise surprise !  TA DA !!!!

( One for those who remember the WAR ladies in the Duchatelet Out campaign )

Think the fans who went to Birmingham should also be paraded - wonder how many of us are left or could prove we were there
And Elland Road blimy that was scary.
We were basically standing on a lump of concrete that night. Horrible place it was.

Timid - fuck off - I went to Elland Road on my own, and St Andrew’s - and Battle of the Bridge - I go to watch my club to watch a football match - no interest in fighting whatsoever - yes, if someone wanted to give it, I’m not swerving it - but on my own, faced with multiple nut jobs, get away - leaving St Andrew’s ‘87 Leeds fans were kicking turnstile doors down to get out, I ran all the way to New Street station - post match in ‘88 at Chelsea it was carnage, with Chelsea fans going mental - it was very scary

I was a young lad, capable of handling a one on one, but not one on 10, 20 etc

So wind your neck in - back then it was a very different time - but I went to all 3 matches, all 3 of which had an undercurrent of threat

Did you go to all of them ???

    Nah doubt it…

    I did

They should invite Ian Baird - then the lads could line up and take it in turns to knee him in the back of the head whilst he's sat down in the penalty area!

First I've heard re Lennie turning down the toss of a coin , I wonder when this was all decided and happened , prolly on the night at Leeds , hence lastminute.com St Andrews was chosen .
