They don’t want the Covered End to clap the players when they come out ?

I'm a bit surprised at the negativity about this. The club are pushing the boat out to try to pump things up a bit for the most important match we've had for years. Good on them, and I'm looking forward to seeing it and to the whole atmosphere.
I dont think the crowd need "pumping up".....but if they do they are at the wrong event.

Stop moaning. What a bunch of miseries.

    False. Just so false.

Did you have the same thoughts when they did it for the Doncaster semi final too?

I’ve written to the club suggesting that everyone turns on their phone torches. Let’s blind the Wycombe players as they enter the field of play

    Oh dear.

    1-0 already to Wycombe.

Just leave the fans to do what they have always done. Sing, shout & cheer. No other bollox is needed.

This & the half & half scarves just proves to me that the owners haven't a clue how to run an English football club.

    Utter gash.

Ps. I'm in the Covered End tomorrow. If there is anything on my seat when I get into the ground its getting torn up and/or thrown onto the pitch.
I doubt very much that the US owners are driving this.

And the scarves were very much Methven who is no longer with us.

But as always if there is the slightest thing to moan about, or even if there isn't, some fans will be only too happy to moan.

I haven't got a problem with it all but when the whistle blows it is 11 v 11.  Just win games.

None of this orchestrated fan activity ever works and always ends up as an awkward sketchy muddle.
That "giant flag" in the cupboard end for the last game - I've got bigger duvet covers!
I'll never forget the dreadfully uncomfortable sight of a tall chap, gamely legging it up the touchline at Wembley in 98 with a microphone some time before kickoff, charged with "getting the singing going" or some such futility.  We were singing fine well already and had been since we got to the Griffin in Villiers Street several hours earlier.  No intended disrespect to the enthusiast concerned.

Dishing out cards to all seats will end up with a steady shower of paper aeroplanes and attendant massive clearup operation for afterwards.
They'd do just as well to put Squeeze and 3 Blokes on repeat on the PA and let us enjoy it all just as we always do.
None of it's even gonna show up on telly cos Sky will be running relentless commercials until kickoff.

    Oh well.
The club come up with an idea to help start off the atmosphere and maybe fire up the players even more and some people on here feel the need to moan about it.
If you don't want to be involved you can just sit/stand and boo. That should help the players pre match preparations.

There's always fans on here and on twitter bemoaning the fact that the AC and West stands are a bit slow to join in with the Covered End and really helping to boost the atmosphere. So here's an initiative involving all three of the usual home stands aimed at getting everyone actively engaged. If that helps encourage the quieter areas to be a bit more vocal during the game then that's great as far as I'm concerned.

It’s no big deal and as Doncaster and a lot less ‘palace’ than virtually every other big match that’s been on the box this year - will give people a chance to listen to and sing along to the red red robin maybe ?

The moaning of some of our fans really is laughable. Don’t bother going if it’s too much of an inconvenience.

I guess it may look interesting on the telly and hopefully build the atmosphere, but the timing seems odd if we can’t clap them out. I’m practicing my Bart Simpson one handed clap now.

More worryingly I got two emails. Apparently I’m sitting in the West and Covered End…… could be tricky.

There's supporting the players and there's ramping up the pressure too much - but NJ will have been consulted, I'm sure. It'll be good.

The youngsters in the crowd will love it, memories for a lifetime etched in the brain.

Not a problem with the initiative, just not sure the timings are right here - similarly the giant flag that will be traversing the West Lower at the same time. Both should be done and dusted immediately before the team comes out of the tunnel.
But then the team can’t see it, isn’t the point to show some support to the team? I get it stops clapping but it doesn’t stop singing

    Fair point, well made.

Hold what they call a tile and sing Red Red Robin unspoiled by a different song.

Quite right boss, I mean what's wrong with having a pic of Nathan to look at when the players come out...🙄

We have a load moaning gits at this club and on Charlton Life  . It’s a great idea and anything little thing to give us the edge helps.
