Colours at Wembley

I have this thing in my head that there was a change a few years ago where the highest finishing club gets to wear their colours in the play off final. Is this right or did I dream it?

As I understand it, #cafc will be in red at Wembley on Sunday. Highest-placed team gets to choose. 🔴⚪️ #COYR
  • From last years Championship playoff final -

"As the higher-placed team of the two Wembley finalists, Leeds were given first choice on which kit they would like to wear for the big game this Sunday."
  • I went through the EFL handbook and the Play Off Competition Regulations and couldn't find any reference to it. I've no reason to doubt what Callum says, other than the fact that we really shouldn't be relying on the Sunderland Echo for an answer to this question.
  • Good to see, thought it was based on a coin toss.

It would make sense, in the play-offs the highest placed team plays away first, so I can only assume this follows suit.

  • Yes, I fully agree. I just think that it's something the EFL should have written down somewhere (perhaps that have and I've just missed it) rather than having to rely on a provincial newspaper.

Equally the club could tell us ?

That was a great colour for Coventry in the very early 80's.  The Talbot kit.

    Yes, assuming they know ;)

More reliable than the Plymouth Herald.
  • Callum was right about us being allocated the west end of Wembley.

Is that the same end we had last time?

Yes, I managed to book the exact same seats we had last time!
why did you leave some bubble gum under the seat?
  • Did it lose it's flavour overnight?

Must have been Juicy Fruit. Only ever lasted 5 minutes.

Edit: I recognise that Juicy Fruit is a chewing gum rather than a bubble gum. But Hubba Bubba only ever tasted of plastic, so losing its flavour was a bonus.

The OS has us down as "At Home" on the matches/Fixtures and Results page, so Red it is...🙄
